Firstly, this event is about having fun, hopefully collecting some models you wouldn't otherwise, or spurring you on to finish something you never would have got around to. Secondly it's about being a bit mercenary and winning some prizes.
We are looking for as many contestants as are interested, but you will need to be able to commit to finishing the event. Although it is for a bit of fun, to keep everything fair deadlines will have to be adhered to.
If you excuse the dreadful pun, the "model" entry into the competition is a wargame army, with a monthly target being something similar to a box of plastic figures, a unit or regiment for your army. There is a lot of leeway in this, and at the end of the day (or month technically) you will be being judged by your peers, so you do what you feel is a good amount of graft for a month. No reason why you can't build a game board or a train set (maybe).
If a 1 June start date is feasible, and I think it is, that's next Wednesday. Here's the timetable:
Friday 27 May: Final day for contestants to post their interest. Please post in "Contestants" and wait for confirmation by PitYak Studios. Your post should describe what you intend to achieve overall, what you will be aiming for each month and anything else about yourself you want to tell us.
Wednesday 1 June: Competition opens. All contestants have seven days to make their first posts. (but try and do it as quick as you can). First post to show models in untouched state (or "as you bought them" state) and explain what you will be doing (or attempting to do).
Tuesday 7 June: Final day for first posts. Posting closes midnight.
Now work your little brushes off,
Sunday 26 June: All final posts to be submitted. Posting closes 12 midnight.
Monday 27 June: Voting begins
Thursday 30 June: Voting ends 12 midnight.
Then sometime over the weekend, the results will be announced,
Friday 1 July you can start posting second months' entries,
Thursday 7 July: Final day for 2nd month's 1st post, and off it goes again!
We will have to be strict on these deadlines, as there's prizes at stake!
Prizes
Two competitions will run concurrently; one for modellers, or contestants, the other for voters. Each competition will have at least one prize per month. The prizes will be donated by PitYak Studios and will be dependant on the interest the contest attracts.
Each month, the contestants' entries will be judged by the forum members, and each member will vote on his choice of that month's winner. The contestant with the most votes is that month's winner.
Each month, one voter will be selected at random. That voter is that month's winner.
At the end of the contest, each contestant who has remained in the game will receive a PitYak Studios T-shirt.
Penalties
While the scope of the contest is quite relaxed, we have to be strict on the posting and voting deadlines. Contestants who miss three posting deadlines will be asked to withdraw from the contest.
Voters who miss a month's vote simply don't get to vote.
Judging Criteria
Judge your peer's work based on the following factors;
Did they complete what they planned?
If not, did they have a valid explanation?
Was it a good month's work?
Did you just plain like it?
Remember, the whole point is to assemble some sort of themed collection of models. You should vote on who think is best doing that.
Any questions or queries, let's get them out now.
