Well I still care...I just can't commit to painting what I have left in a month because there's no way I'd really be able to do it...without taking a couple of weeks off work...(hmmmm tempting)!
For what it's worth I'm still painting FOW pieces...and I'm working to finish my army before Xmas.

Well I reckon we didn't do to badly, and i'll bet at least some of you wouldn't have had the armies you have now were it not for the compo. i know my acw would still be the single unit of cavalry, and my ancients wouldn't have been any further forward either. and i did all them cyberpunks, so i'm pretty pleased with what i did myself, and you all should be too!
yaaaay! it's all over!
big hand to aaron for suggesting the crazy damn thing in the first place.

Well
<phew>
I cant say I was looking forward to another month but dammit I was gonna do it!
I think this project was a success, perhaps not the roaring success I expected or hoped for but a success none the less.
I have definitely completed more work in the last 4 months than in the last 4 years. I’d like to say thanks to Stu, Dustan and Phil for putting in their entries and PitYak Studios for providing some incentives and place to revel in our madness.
Thanks to everyone who took part, on both sides of the fence and I’d just like to say I’ve got a few more crazy modeling challenges up my sleeve (although on a smaller/quicker scale) and might see if we can time the next one to co-incide with the uni/school holidays to hopefully give us more particpants.

Yeah We did great. Thank you Aaron My Ork horde is mostly painted, over 200 models =] Thankyou Phil for the prizes and the venue.
If it happens again I would be in, but I would pick a smaller force and definately NOT a horde.
Thanks to the other contestants whos work kept be going. And thanks to Burbsee for voting (and anyone else if they voted)

I think Phil makes a good point that we wouldn't have the armies we have now if we HADN'T entered the competition and at least stuck it out for a couple of months The really silly thing is now we've officially closed it down I find myself furiously painting my Flames of War NZers! I've finished another 25pdr gun and team this week and am looking to maybe finish the core unit this weekend. Mad. I think Aaron's theory about once the pressure is off the work becomes less like a chore is probably close to the mark... Anyway, I'll continue to post progress as I finish units...

I got to admit I have gone from painting on average 15-20 figures a week to 0... There is a reason which is simply I dont have something I am obligated to finish... You guys kept me on the straight and narrow and focused my efforts. Now i am a lost soul with no idea what to paint or do... deadlines worked well for me... mostly now though i need more space and shelves to unpack ALL my unpainted mini's. I want to beable to walk up to a shelf, grab a unit and walk back to my work bench. That way I can see what I got, pick what I feel like painting and set smaller goals over a few armies. The upside is I have been having a good rest and been doing some converting, Scratch building and building terrain. I hope to have the basics of my refinery/industrial terrain set built before tuesday, I got to fight the Fish heads and would rather see action with something a little more errr... Solid. This Terrain set is for a contest on Terragenesis you'all should go check it out, new site design etc. goto the forums its the last day of voting for last months tower tomorrow. Cool thing about this months refinery job is theres another from these forums joining in. Go the Kiwis How do the contestants feel about gathering up their photos and notes and maybe making a conclusion post each... maybe with army pics and as a place we can update as we near our complesions in our own time.

Yeh I like that idea. Maybe a quick what we learned, an overall picture of where we are now and then random updates as finish off more stuff...
Is that ok with everyone?

Sounds fair . I had just planned to keep posting the MMM thread on a month by month basis until I've finished my army. By my reckoning I've only got the following to do (probably in this order too): 2 x 25pdr guns and gun teams on large bases. 2 x 17/25 pdr guns and gun teams on large bases. 2 x 6pdr Portees (trucks), guns and gun teams on medium bases. 6 x Medium Infantry bases. 9 x Small sundry Infantry bases. 4 x Quad gun tractors. 2 x Lorries. Doesn't sound like a heck of a lot does it? As I have everything I need for a 1500pts Flames of War force it'd be interesting to take a 'parade' photo of everything lined up just to determine what the ratio of painted to unpainted bases is...

Right! This 'ere is my 'round up' post at the end of the competition! Here is my 1500pts Flames of War British/NZer force at the moment. It breaks down into painted versus half painted as follows: Painted: * 1 x Infantry Rifle platoon. * 3 x Humber II Armored cars. * 3 x Stuart ‘Honey’ unit. Half painted: * 1 Rifle platoon has 3 half painted large Infantry bases to go. * 3 of 4 x 25pdrs and gun teams painted. 1 Obsvr White scout car painted. 2 Quad tractors painted. None of the staff or HQ painted. * 2 of 4 x 6pdr Portees and gun teams painted. * 1 Rifle platoon is mostly unpainted. Started painting HQ and support teams. * 2 x 17/25pdr ‘Pheasants’, gun teams and 2 Quad tractors to be painted. * CiC and SiC HQ teams half painted I aim to complete this lot before Xmas and I believe that’s entirely feasible. The 6pdr Portees and 17/25 Pheasants may be painted by the end of October. Then it’s just the poor bloody Infantry and all the rather dull transports to finish off in November/December.

Not too shabby.
I meant to ask, is your table based on any real battlefield?

Nah...it's just a generic 'sandy desert hills with ridges' table. By the time it's painted and has additional details added it should be good for a few games though. I started sculpting a 15mm 'Zeltbahn' tent last night too...because I want a German airstrip on the table somewhere and nobody on the planet seems to sell 15mm scale German tents. Huzzah! A niche market!

funnily enough, tents just don't seem to be popular with manufacturers; i'm busy doing some 20mm acw tents

maybe its cause unless you are attacking base (of some description) or ambushing campers like some kinda military sassquach tents are usually in storage. they would also be easy to knock out of the way to march troops through... though later periods would have the chance of bomb tents to get all the bullies that knock peoples tents down...
