I like that sentiment!
It seems most of us agree it's been good motivation - I know I would never have done what I did, and it looks like I'm going to have quite a few finished sets by the end. I got 8 more cavalry half-way finished yesterday, so I'll get some pics of them soon, in the rough as guts half painted stage.

Just wanted to add my congratulations. Dustan you are definately a worthy winner! A great combination of storyline, conversion work, painting & quantity of work completed.
I was a bit dissappointed with only 4 votes but I think as particpants the best part has been the conversation between ourselves anyway. Sitting quietly in your room painting rank upon rank of toy soldiers (a hobby not understood by 95% of the world) is pretty solitary and to be able to log on the next day and talk to someone about it or read what someone else was doing has made the whole process more enjoyable.
Im a bit envious now tho, I wish I had picked one of my existing unpainted armies to work on rather than starting a new one, that would be sooo much more satisfying to complete. Ah well, FoW beckoned and me being the new army slut that I am couldn't resist!

I know what you mean about the 95% thing, I went to the supermarket to stock up on more rubble (aka Cat litter) The cute young thing behind the counter asked "awww have you got a kitten." "nope". "Oh, have you got a cat then". "Nope". *confused look from casheer*. "I glue it to stuff and make it look like rocks". "So its for art, cool." (internal monologue) "Yup, I'll take that, easy way out" "Yeah" *grin* Does anyone know how much area 125 balloons will will fill up... I am hoping its enough to at least half fill my shoe box bedroom. which will mean no modeling till I can take them all out... its a girl friend thing.

Ba careful of falling into the "too much information" trap.

Well by my reckoning it's the last week of the month again. Postings close 12 midnight MONDAY (this gives you all weekend to finish painting, and monday to get your photos done.)
Voting will run until 12 midnight Friday, winners to be announced over the weekend.
Voting again will take the form of an instant message sent to me, with the subject line "VOTE - username", again don't worry about the body of your message as I will not be reading them.
Let's see if we can get into double figures this time ;D

August is go.
Get your July posts up by midnight tonight, then votes in as of 0001 Tommorrow.
This month you (contestants and voters) are competing for 5 lead bases or base inserts, or any combination of the two since I'm so easy going.
Good luck all.
The August compo is now officially open too. (Watch your backs everyone, there's a sneaky confederate counter attack in the wings)

Tadada-dada-daa-aa!
And this month's winner is....c0d3monk33!
Congrats, very nice month's entries. As I said, I have a soft spot for your subject, but even still they were some excellent vehicles. I might be popping along to the fow stand at the model shop myself this month. Either that or get cracking on my steampunk vehicles.
Stu won by a fair margin, but the votes were more evenly spread this month, all 8 of them, and as an aging historical buff I'm glad to say Aaron was runner up this month. Yay the oldies! (as an aside, all this interest in the WWII stuff made me realise - it's so long since I heard anyone refer to WWII as The War.)
And believe it or not the lucky voter this month is fantasychild again! Last month it was a coin toss, this month a die roll, and still he wins! I think we'd all be curious to know what lottery numbers you use.
Five lead slugs winging their way to the winners, roundn bases or square inserts, or a combination of the two. Let me know by pm again, and your address again to make life easier for me.
Onwards and upwards!

Hey cool . Thanks everybody who voted! Crikey I'd better make some progress on this month's work...I've been too busy trying to sculpt reasonable 15mm entrenchment terrain for casting...

Congrats Stu, a well deserved win!
hopefully this will get you fired up again for this month?!
I think we'll all be up against Dustan as favourite this month as I would imagine a collection of vehicles he has planned will prove pretty popular! (sorry, no pressure! ;D )
