Too damn cold here, my fingers are numb so I'm spending the day chilling drinking brews in front of the heater instead of modelling.
By midnight tonight everyone should have made their final monthly posts, and voting will begin.
To vote, just PM me with a subject line that looks like "VOTE - username". Don't bother with the body of the message, as I won't be reading them. After I've totted all the votes, I'll anounce the winners of both comps.
By the way, voting is open to all members including contestants, but contestants will not be enterred in the voter's draw.
This months huuuge prizes are basing materials; a pack of four to each winner.

No prizes awarded yet, but i will hint that going by the votes in so far it looks like a landslide to one member. Remember voting closes midnight Thursday.
As for July, you can start your postings whenever (although officially you should wait till the 1st, and I haven't decide on the closing dates yet. Since the 31st is a Sunday, I am considering either having posting close on the sunday, and allow a few days into aug for voting, or have the deadline the week earlier, and allow voting for the remainder of the week

Can we start a new thread for next month? If I keep talking this much crap it will just get too unwieldy.

Yeah good idea, I'll lock this one once the results are announced.
How would (contestants only) like the results displayed; either just the winner, everyone in order with scores, everyone in order without scores, or something else?

Hmm, how would my ego stand coming last with 0 votes... not too good.
How about winner & runner-up then you can make general comments about whether it was a landslide or close run or only 1 person voted that kind of thing.
Im really curious to know how many people in total voted to see how many people we've got following us.

I vote for extending the voting into August! Seriously that gives us 4 full weeks to work - from 3rd Jul to 30th Jul is four weeks. I'd be interested to see how many people are following the progress as well plus who gets the votes . I reckon it's either you Aaron or Dustan myself. I feel my efforts paled in comparison to both of you :/ Anyway, I've got some modelling time tonight so I might do some more Infantry basing and whip up a 'before' photo for this month.

I'll probably do that then - have the voting run during the first posting week of august.

I dont really have a preference for closing on the 24 or the 31 cause what ever the day I'll be doing 70% of the work on that weekend I dont really mind if people want to see the actual votes.

Ah well, I quietly gave it a couple of days to see if we got any more votes in, but sadly not, so...
A grand total of four votes were cast, and luckily two of those were by non-contestants, so I get to give away two prizes. ;D
Therefore it gives me great pleasure to announce the winner of the first month's modelling comp is, by a comfortable margin, Dustand. I guess people just like to see a load of orcs (although it'll be interesting to see if you are as succesful next month after this month's revelation ;D ) Seriously though, congratulations, that was a nice bit of work, interesting mix of paintwork and conversions. I think everyone would be keen to see more wip shots next month if you can.
Second place was c0d3monk33, who I must admit would have been my own choice, for no other reason than I like historical, and I prefer sandy bases to grassy ones like Aaron's, sorry ;D Your vehicles were nice too, looked like pretty realistic weathering and detailing from the photos.
To everyone else, equally well done, they were some great month's entries. Let's keep it up or improve for next time.
On to the second half of the comp, for the voters. Entering this one is a seriously good idea. It can't take too much time, and you're in with a fair chance of winning a prize (50/50 this month!) So this month's toss-of-a-coin winner is.......fantasychild!
The two winners, send your preferences for your prize (four bags of basing materials each) and your addresses, best send them too.
Right, on with July!

Heh. I thought Dustan would be the winner myself . His effort has been the most well documented imho...and certainly the most heroic! Madness how many Orcs and Gobbos you're planning to paint. You keep mentioning figures like 50? 60? It takes me more than a year to paint that many 28mm figures and you're talking about doing the bulk of them in a month or two???! Congratulations Dustan! Pity we had a couple of drop-outs too imho. This humble competition has been great motivation for me to get some painting done and I'm sure everybody else still in feels the same.

My vote swung towards dustans way, one thing that drew me was the amount of effort that looks like has been put into EVERY model.

Thanks for your kind words, , if it wasnt for this contest, knowing that there are other people working just as hard towards shared goals I would have only painted about 1 or 2 figures. Its finally a way that I can be somewhat social over something thats done so solitary.
I am calling hight number this month purely because Ihave 2 more weeks of nothing, I am on leave from work for a month, a much needed break, and no classes.
so its a high number for two reasons, I dont want too many figures left near the last month, I would rather build terrain through my next exams. And I just plain got the free time this month. It should go without saying that the sacrifices made by those with more hectic lifestyles is far greater than me who doesnt yet have some of those wonderful things in my life.
I will try and get some WIP shots going, I have friends with cameras, and I can borrow the work camera so its hard for me to have a camera long enough, Bloatgut for example was sculpted over about 3 weeks, I actually started painting him in the places he didnt need any more work. My new flatmate has a webcam so I will see if that can take decent enough pictures, I am real fussy about photos, I havent got a single photo of Ardtoof that I really love, his pose is very dynamic and doesnt translate well to 2D. I got one of the Standard warboss but its to good a photo shopertunity, to put it up without changing the background.
The website I mentioned that gave me the inspiration for Ardtoof is what I love to see in a minature webpage, thats what I want to do. There are very few webpages I visit regularly. In no particular order Terrageneisis, PitYak (here) and (plug warning) PitYak Studios (I love looking at the corugated shak, fantastic use of IDE cables), Stu's Blog 'The Alchemist's Journal' is one I also poured over. other than that its smilecity and any site with song lyrics (I like to sing=). Whilst it may sound a bit Naf, I was fequinting terragenisis for so long and creativity and obvious love of the hobby is what drew me to this site.
It really is a case that you lot here have rekindled my enjoyment in the hobby, it gets tired after the second decade, Thank you so much for that. Just to finish on a cliche, the hobby was the winner at the end of the day.
