Hi all and welcome to the board.
I had been looking for a New Zealand wargaming and miniatures forum, but couldn't find a good active one, so let's see if we can make this take off. I need your help!
Please take a couple of minutes to leave a post here introducing yourself.

Hi,
My name is Aaron, live up in Auckland. Ive been painting and modelling since I was little, starting out with the good old Airfix/Tamiya planes. Despite many years experience Im really not that good and whilst can paint to a good tabletop standard Im never going to win any competitions. Hopefully this forum will give me a chance to learn new tricks and get some advice.
My main interest is the Games Workshop range, particularly fantasy style models.
Apart from wargaming I also enjoy building/breaking computers and watch EPL Soccer.
Cheers, Aaron.

Hi Aaron, great to have you on board. That's a familiar modelling history, a lot of us have gone that route I reckon. I hope you've read my philosophy on figures before you run yourself down - ff you like it it's good! building / breaking computers - yeah, I do that, I thought they were one and the same

Hi, I'm from welly too, well Petone to be more precise. I'm definately far too old to be playing with toys. My attraction to miniatures is more from the artistic point of view. I really enjoy painting them and as they are pretty cheap to start with (well lets just not bring up GW) it's a hobby I can afford... that is if you don't cont the windsor & newton series 7, finest sable size 00 that I am almost too scared to actually use in case I bend the tip!
I've never gamed with minis, far too scared of dropping even further into the endless pit of geekdom *duck* I help administer a MUD and play the part of a goddess plus play an online text based war strat game so I think I have my fill of geek activities.
I'm looking at breaking into sculpting so am collecting tools and bits that I think might be of use at some stage but haven't really created anything aside from my 'Pustulating Globbulous Miffle from the planet Quarfliggertron' (ok ok so that is just the name I made up for my left over greenstuff pile)

Hi Sam, thanks for all the posts. And of course the dubious honour of first member of the board. Noone can take that away from you!
Hi Pirate Wench (gotta love that name). I've made quite a few of those Pustulating Globbulous Miffles in my time.
I used to paint exclusively with Windsor and Newton Sceptre sable brushes, at least I did before I moved over here and realised it was either a paint brush or a months food. I've actually started using a few <checks noone is listening> synthetics. D.A.S. Taklon brushes are quite good, and dirt cheap, plus I can buy them at the lotto shop up the road. I generally do all my painting with a 3 or 2, nothing smaller.
Ah yes geekdom. No matter how I try and hide the fact, I guess I'm a geek. I just don't get it; hobbies include playing with soldiers, computers, and working on my modelling tan. What's geeky about that?

I'm definately far too old to be playing with toys What do you mean too old... you can never get too old for playing with toys its just that most people use having kids as an excuse to keep playing where as some of us are brave enough to keep going in the face of society! Im sure we've all noticed that the toys that you really want when your 15-20 you cant afford until you 25-35.

Shoulda done this earlier I guess... The name's Adam, I'm 16 and come from Timaru. My best mate's Kurt aka Abaddon. I've been into 40k for about a year and a half, always loved the Space Marines and therefore, surprise surprise, 40k/Space Marines are what takes my interest. I'm into the modelling/painting/converting of miniatures, for me the game comes second. I plan to open some sort of a store here in Timaru for miniatures, specifically 40k but maybe I'll expand (hey, dreams are free...) My other interests include writing books, readin books (nerd alert!) and listenin to loud rock music (the louder the better)

Of course I'm not gonna set up a rival board! Everyone knows that PitYak is the original NZ wargaming board, and I'm not gonna sell out to anyone else

I should have done this sooner too.
I'm James, I live in Waiuku, just south of Auckland. My hobbies include modelling (no, not supermodelling!) and anyting else that catches my eye.
My main game is Lord of the Rings, although I am now branching out into Warhammer Fantasy.
As for Pustulating Globbulous Miffles, I must have made a fair few when working on my wraith. Yeah I know he doesn't even have a face, but that doesn't stop me wrecking his robes and getting scale wrong.

Hi
I seem to do most things arse about face so it's only natural I arrive at the start well on my way to finishing.
I'm an Aucklander via a childhood in the South Island. Currently living in the Wild West I keep myself occupied mainly with family and the odd physical endeavour in a vain attempt to keep up with the kids.
Model painting and games are part of an ever increasing list of what I like to call my dormant hobbies. These include sketching, painting, pool playing, fishing and bad guitar.
Thanks to those who have and will no doubt continue to try and educate me in computer etiquette. I'm afraid it's a lost cause as I try to avoid the thing for the most part only daring to approach for the odd game or to answer the endless trail of work emails.
As you can see I tend to write far to much but what can I say I'm old school. Cheers to you all and if you're ever this far north drop us a line and I'll be more than happy to catch up over a quiet ale.
