Right, I been having a hard time deciding what to paint I want to tackle my Fast Attack section 2 Wartracks, 1 buggy Trukk boyz Mob (1 Trukk, 1 Nob and 9 Boyz) 10 Bikes (one Nob included) I also am keen to work on my storm boyz (16 boyz & 1 Nob - official, 3 Boyz converted) Here are some pics Stormboyz in parts Bikes and Buggy Half the bikes Trukk boyz The other 5 bikes (and an extra buggy) are comming care of a trade me auction, unpainted with crap old riders (I only need their legs) and the guns already removed. I have spent the afternoon preping my bikes and gluing new guns on, the riders body/legs are converted but I still need new arms. The next five will get the same treatment once they arive. The painted wartrak is converted but will be completely repainted with the other two vehicles The trukk has been converted to a wood decked dragster wheeled monster. Hoping to get a game at North shore vagabond next tuesday, they start at 4 and my lectures finish at 5 so hopefully someone will want a go... I am going to figure out an army list for the troops thusfar as well, and try and get a decent looking one for playing =]

Well, still waiting on my bikes =[ in the mean time i have converted the first 5 bikes, chopped of the God Aweful big shotas from the back and glued arrays of shootas onto the front drivers sheild, I beefed up the suspension on one of the bikes to give it more of a choppa (Bike not weapon) feel, thats for the Nob so naturally that got twin-link gatling style big shootas.
The riders still need one more arm each, quick cut at the wrist and the shoota cupping hand holds the handles nicely.
I am waiting for the other five before I start painting them, which is driving me nutz cause I think the conversions are looking sweet but its not going to come alive till if gets painted. I can never wait to paint conversions...
I also started work on the trakks and buggy, Converted one into a scorcha using the metal bits from south african power plugs as gas tanks, they are the perfect size and shape for gas tanks, by that I mean like the ones for oxy/acetalyne torches. just bang a valve like bit on and your done... I got HEAPS of them so if anyone is interested in getting a pair for making molds or for conversion work then let us know by private message, i probably can give away about 4 sets. Another will have a T.L. bigshoota and the third will have T.L. Rockets I think... I am getting an extra buggy and if Icant find a suitable scale cheap to of the old ford trucks with the big curved bonnet and farings then it will be salvaged for My third trukk. otherwise it will get a universal weapon mount and interchangable weapons (its not part of this months plan, probably something for the last month).
The trukk repairs go slowly, the wood deck makes me hesitant to just slap hot glue on the underside as I have built up a drive shaft and extended the exhausts and I dont want to loose that detailing.
I started sculpting the extra bits onto the 3 conversions of stormboyz, i had made some budget atempts by just glueing bitz onto the boyz backs but since my sculpting skills need some work I decided to take a bit more time and make them as close to the metals as possable, so far I have put the extra armour on their backs, built up the capacitors so they are similar in size to the proper rockets and rolled out a saussage the same size as the little control can that hangs at their waist, tonight I am hoping to get the shoulder mounts and metal frames that hold the rocket on completed and maybe (if the putty dries) work on the chest unit some more, I am waiting for my flatmate to break a guitar string so i got some ready made ribbed tube, otherwise I might have to go buy a string for myself. The part I fear the most is the conical end on the rocket. DAMN YOU GW, why sell boxes of 8 troops when the unit is full strength 20, its this kind of money hungry tactic that just cant be excused. After you buy the Nob for $20 something you either buy 3 models from mail order (probably $15 a piece) or another boxed set of 8 for $55. Its just not on but at the same time its nice to try and sculpt something I can see and feel.
After the massive success of 3 weeks in simple green concerntrate the stormboyz scrubbed up perfect. I have since changed the murky colour drain stuff and put about 40 od models into the jar. cant wait =]
So after all that it will seem that my first week will be spent almost entirely on modeling and converting my fast attack choices and the storm boyz. I have resisted the temptation to paint the storm boyz in black pants/shirts. they are gunna be two tone grey, Dark pants light shirts, probably black belts and the rest is metal, skin or black and white checks. probably with a little red for a feature colour.
The vehicles are all red and metal (its the only orky way) and the trukk boyz will probably end up red pants white shirts with black boots and belts.
I want to keep the drivers and gunners in the racing team but dont want to have confusion between them and the Meks (all red), maybe the crew will have to go with the same colours as the trukk boyz, cheif meks in red and pit crew (aka burna boyz) in brown. mostly I wish i had have brought some models to work today... its so boring and I could have got a bit completed by now.... you live you learn

Lazy post for today and only for a sense of completion. Here is my WIP on the Storm Boyz. Storm BoyzModels Used40k Ork Sprue Other BitsKneadit Aqua NotesSo far my sculpting tools have been Fingers, broken off craft knife bladesand a toothpick. The model with red on it is an original GW model, the red is highlighting the parts that make a storm boy a storm boy. the little cone thing next to the rocket has a small capacitor inside it as filler.

Well, one week of painting and I have completed painting the bodies of 20 Storm Boys, if I can finish the arms and heads by monday (easy job) Then I have painted 20 models in one week.
Thats not all, I have finished the Big Shoota war trakk and it only took about 4 hours (crew took longer than trakk) and 30 minutes was spent sorting out the crew colours, which I wont loose on all the rest of the crews (Bikes, buggies, trakks and trukk) also the Truk boyz will get the same colours...
I am on my way to finishing 70 something pieces (if you count the crew separate from the vehicles, which I do)
Still got to convert 5 bikes and the buggy, and I might even get time to finish last months Mek Boy.

Thought a little update before I start painting again.
Storm Boyz3 Rockets left to finish building 4 models complete
1 Nob at final detail level 15 painted bodies waiting for Arms, heads and Rockets
Bikes 4 bikes and 5 riders Converted 1 Nob and Bike Almost converted
5 bikes and 4 riders left to convert
Trakks and Buggy 3 vehicles and 6 crew converted 1 Trakk painted
2 Vehicles left to paint
Trukkboyz Mob Trukk needs repairs All needs paint
On Saturday i stoped in at Vagabond (NS) and got a box of Fantasy Orks and a box of Night Goblins.
I only needed a few orks but this way I have enough extras to build another HQ option, A Big Mek and retinue of Mek Boyz. I have always wanted to Build a battle wagon as well so thats 2 units onto a second force organisation chart =)... I got to stop thinking about filling a second chart.
And the nightgoblins will fill out my grots to 30 and provide crew for the big gunz battery I will build.
I also purchase a fantasy boarboy to make my Biker Nob. He will be standing, mostly naked, on the bike which now has twin linked gatling big shootas and great big horn handle bars with a wilderbeast skull still attached (yay fantasy ork box)
I will used the fantasy orks to form the bases of my next slugga boyz, play the feral jungle ork feel a bit more, this will be the tribe before 'Ardtoof Turned up. The mix of parts in bringing the unit to full strength will also give feel of some of the orks embracing the change in times, a unit of infantry I actually cant wait to get into =]
I got my arms, heads and rockets with me for the first round of work =]
Pictures by tomorrow

Holy crap...ONE force org chart isn't enough for you! What's the total points value of that Orkish force going to be? 2500-3000pts?
And are you gaming with this lot or not?
Madness!

Yeah one chart is enough. the total points of this army will be around 5000 points. An Yes, I will play with this force, not the whole force at once (unless i find another mad man or 2 or 3 join together (I got enough marines and tau to face them all).
I like to build to a level.
Tau, Full Force Organisation chart Ork, Full Force Organisation chart - Full Unit Strength Marine, Complete Battle company less rhinos (I aint that rich or mad)
Yes its for playing but its also for collecting, the modeling has always been the largest part of this hobby for me... and i need a pretty big sense of completion... I dont even like saying i collect Empire and Skaven armies because I dont think they have enough models in them... both are over 100 models
I dont play as much as I would like to... but untill then I collect enough models so anyone could sit down and write an army for any tactics and have painted models available...
Plus this Ork army could be split down the middle and fight its self...

That's like my approach to collecting armies. Collect enough for both sides of the table, then you don't have to worry about finding an opponent with a matching army. Or with my arthurians, the whole lot can be fielded as one huge british army, or be split into as many factions as needed. The cyberpunks too are general enough to be fielded together or seperately.
At the end of the day I paint cos i like painting, not to have a wargaming army (acw set aside), but the army aspect does keep you focussed.

Definately, The idea of collecting an army controls my purchasing. I wont buy figures I cant use. I collect 6 armies so I dont go nutz buying just one race. kinda limits my bitz box. If I only collected one...
The only Army I brought all in one go was my 3000 point Wampire Counts, I had a pile of money to spend so I went nutz...
My empire troops were brought as 2 WH Game boxes - a box of knights and a couple random bits I brought when I was a younger.
I been buying skaven since the begining, and whilst being my favorite army they are taking me the longest to get.
The Orks have been gathered since the boxed ork boys came out (6-7 years?)
Tau took 6 months to get the models
I have sold off figures and even threw some away (I wasnt ever going to use heros quest again) anything not for an army gets absorbed into one or stuck in a box away from the armies...
I have been noticing lately that my bits box is running low. I am kinda happy about this because my other armies dont need so much conversion... not more so than orks at any rate.
Oh yeah, the goal for a Fantasy army (any) is 3000 points. Its my favourite size battle in either system. Big enough to have a couple people on each side of the field or to take up a day from morning to night... You get enough troops to spilt your force and work two stratergies instead of just one.
My favourite board size is 8x4 with deployment anywhere 12" out, having the 12 inches in never worked, no one ever uses it.
I guess if I played more frequent I would enjoy smaller games but its always been a day long thing (Epic used to last all weekend when we played 20,000 point games)
I like spacehulk or bloodbowl for small games, set up time is shorter...
Most of my marines are the metals that came out around 2nd edition 40k.
