Wow what a day can do, made a big push for the finish line yesterday, I was up almost around the clock and between breaks I Finished he stormboyz (they look sweet and my converts all but disappear in the midst... hehe StormBoyz in the midsts
) )
The bikes took up most of the rest of my painting, a lot of time was spent getting a decent coat of red gore to stick, after that its pretty easy, carlessly wetbrush all the black areas and stipple the red areas with Tin Bitz. The effect is something like red gore the hue of scorched brown. Next is a moist brushing with chainmail on all the metal areas. Then a quick two step highlight with red gore (used sparingly and wetbrush/stippled over the darker areas of tin bitz) then moist brushing blood red with a stippling action. After that handle bars, and seats and pick out any details (glyph plates and headlights).
I have got all the conversion work done accept for the trukk crew. Once the last of the vehicles are painted I can go through and apply some waterslide decals. Yay =]
Its looking to me if I have a good run at it tonight I may be finished by tomorrow afternoon.
Storm Boyz (20) (100%)
Complete
Trukk Mob (10 boyz+ Trukk + 2 Crew) (75%)
The boyz are finished
The trukk has base colours
The crew is painted needs arms and heads to be painted
Bikes and buggy (3 vehicles + 6 crew) (85%)
1 bike and 2 crew are finished
4 crew are painted and needs arms and heads to be painted
2 other vehicles are finished
Bikes (10 bikes 10 riders) (85%)
Bikes are on final detail stage (Glyphs, exhausts, headlights and weathering)
The riders are complete accept for arms and heads
If I pull this off and you count crew as a seperate entity then I would have painted 72 figures this month.
Would someone lock me up?... Please...
Next month is going to be interesting.
This is what I have to do to finish my force organisation chart =]
10 Grots
To fill that unit out to full strength.
30 Shoota Boyz
These have been soaking in simple green for a month now, they are going to be a cheat unit (painting wise), all black. This will still leave armour and skin to paint but since the arms and weapons are seperate it should be a little easier.
30 Slugga Boyz
A feral slugga mob, representing the tribe that was already in the canyon when Ardtoof arrived. Using fantasy orks, this unit may end up being dipped. The way I figure it, with the heads and arms painted seperate and with the right choice of colours I can make the primative ork tribe look a bit more muddy and dishevled.
10 Tank Busters
Mostly a just incase unit and also for the sake of converting =]
20 'Ard Boyz
These guys are going to stip out all the gubbinz and bits in my 2 ork parts cases (hopefully i can condense them into one. They are led by a mega armoured Ork Nob.
3 Big Gunz (3 Zzap cannons, 16 grots, Slaver, mek and squig)
Scratch built artilery
3 Killer Kans
I have one GW model and plan to build the other 2
9 Cyborks and a trukk
The retinue for Bloatgut, Again, in it for the conversions.
1 Mek Boy
Half done, hes for the warbosses retinue.
And thats all folks. A quick count shows about 138 models remaining, give or take. I also need to put some more work into my battle board and jungle terrain. I got so many aquarium plants its just not funny =]
So 3 months left and I am well over half way, well... at half way. I cant wait to get some photos of all 3 months models together. after adding 30 figures so far this month I looked at the shelf like it was the first time again, man it looks so cool. I am going to pack all my Tau away (to make room) and make a promise that only completed models can go on my shelves It looks alot nicer. I am going to build a carry case some day, well one that can hold 250 figures and one that can hold a pile of vehicles. best bet will be big tool boxes kitted out to recieve trays, build up trays for each army and a cabinet that can store all the trays. Kinda like a Pro mechanics tool cabinet (the red ones with draws and cupboards). but thats the future, for now I have Orks to paint.
On another not and important if I am going to dip and ork unit, I want to find a few old models and paint them with stripes of my main colour pallet, dip them and see what the results are like... I will get some good pics taken so you all can see what dipping would be like on different colours too. I just hope my Matt varnish is Matt enough to take the shine out of the all-in-one stain.
Wow, I can ramble like no mans business, could have finished the ork arms by now... KAK =]
Congratulations to those of you who read your way through ALL my meandering speculations about stuff.
