Ah great stuff. Sounds interesting! As for beating it up a bit... well Im not very good at that but I would suggest on leading edges paint a small area of black and then inside that paint silver to look like paint chips (maybe?!). Weathering... ah maybe just drybrush brown on around the areas buried in the ground? Also if you've got metal parts paint chestnut ink underneath them in a sort of dribble pattern so it looks like rust. I've made lots more progress and all I've got left now is to paint the statue on top. Unfortunately I dont have the colour I need (yep 50 odd pots of paint but not the colour I need!) but Im gonna borrow that from a friend 2moro evening. Here is the WIP shot

Yep Im not sure exactly where it came from but I stole it from my mother-in-laws wedding cake! Obviously post wedding, not on the actual day altho that would be true dedication to the hobby! Alas Nathanael didn't have the colour I need so I have to decide to either Try and mix the colour I need try the colour I've got which is the next closest option just do a normal brozne kind of statue Im off to try and find a sample of the colour I need online to see if I could possibly mix it up.

Well here we go! I am very happy with how it turned out. The whole thing (except the dirt) was something new and different for me & I think its all worked pretty well. And more pictures here: www.album.co.nz/photoset/1578

Man that's really nice Aaron! The statue (old style Khorne Bloodletter Daemon right?) turned out really well and that interesting blue burnished metal effect makes it look like some exotic metal from the Eye of Chaos. Nice choice for a statue figure as well. The spiky bits look a lot like salvaged battlefield scrap for an impromptue pallisade but the irregular placement almost makes them look semi-organic too. Nice to see you can get figures around the statue as well. Looks like you could get maybe half a squad in there? My only comment would be that the statue paint effect worked so well I reckon you should have done it to the supporting pillar too . Damned fine effort imho!

my friend is very atistic and hence the writing on the pic and i was unable to convince him that it was not necessary but no problem!!but the overall model is very dark and so the pictures arent really able to come up lighter than that!and i realized just now we did not upload the side shots !!!!the inside photo was kind of random but it looked so we used it!!
patches dont give up i did mine in 4 hours!!!(modelling time in a period of 2 days so if you go hard you can do it!!!!!!!!!)as that makes 4 entries so far-so another one would be cool!!
