Burbsee, that one's easy . Cold weather/cold water will slow the chemical process that occurs when plaster sets (which is basically crystal formation from memory). For the opposite effect some people use warm water to speed their plaster setting times up. But as you mention the quicker the set, the weaker the end result usually. Oh and yes I think that lovely scummy water effect that Phil acheived should definitely be ignored during voting

Oh aye, I see the lifting/shrinking how noticable is it in real life?
Regardless I must say that the toxic goop is awesome!! I mean absolutely brilliant! Everything from the green puss/froth edges to the clear liquid centre and the way its worked around the barrels great stuff! The whiteish look has even added to the overall toxicity I reckon.
Im very impressed!

Ahhhh...that's always a good approach . Wait until the deadline is looming to get enough motivation together to finish the job! As I've started playing World of Warcraft I suspect I shan't be making another piece of terrain for this challenge! My first entry will have to suffice...

Top stuff! Smaller drill bits? How small do you need? I generally don't go smaller than 1mm which you can get from any decent hardware store for $2 or something (Mitre10, Bunnings etc).

Well I think I've managed to save mine.
Over the last few days I have;
Sealed the whole lot with several coats of neat Klear. I was hoping this would plug some of the gaps, and to some extent this worked.
Once that was dry, give it all a good blast with dullcote. Planning again to seal in everything underneath so as not to react with...
Another thin layer of clear resin. This has worked fairly well, as of this morning there is just one slight hole, and the resin seems to have set well. On the downside, the barrels are now more submerged than I wnated, but that's not too bad.

Well I finally managed to drag myself away from the computer to glue down some gravel. I now only need to glue on the statue figure and Im ready for undercoat. I should be able to get this finished by the 10th ok as painting should be pretty straight forward. I've decided to skip the whole head on a stake thing as that would probably double/triple the painting time required and at this point I just want to make sure I get an entry in!
