Ok Folks well I’ve had a complete turn around in my plans. A bored afternoon spent contemplating which game would be best to introduce my wife to and the fact I ended up watching the Return of the King led me to look at getting some figures organised for GW Lord of the Rings game. After digging through the games cupboard I uncovered a box of badly painted 2nd hand Moria Goblins which will be the basis for this competition. I hope to collect and paint (over the three months) A goblin raiding party consisting of
10 Goblins with Spears 9 Goblins with Swords/Shields 8 Goblins with Bows 1 Goblin Captain 1 Cave troll 1 Assorted LOTR ruins.
In the first month I will complete 5 Goblins with Spears, 4 Goblins with Swords/shields & the Goblin Captain.
All of this is an exercise in returning crappy old models to life so they are all starting with a Simple Green bath. The bowmen are already done and in the airing cupboard drying. Currently I’ve got 5 swords and 5 spears soaking and they will come out tonight and be scrubbed clean.
The cave troll is a recent TM purchase that cost me a tenner so Im expecting that to be in mildly awful condition when it arrives too.
I’ll try and get some pictures done tonight before they all get cleaned up.

10 Goblins actually! ;D But we put a limit on maximum numbers for a reason. Besides I might turn out 10 little goblin works of art! And by art I mean good art not a 3 year olds finger painting! ;D

Name all your marines with the latin words you have to learn, convert each one te represent his name =]
I was thinking about refreshing my skaven army recently but as the paint jobs on the 100 or so painted figures dont look that bad it would just end up being a excercise in rebasing

good work and nice photography. I like the risk figures - are they from the board game? I'm playing it on the computer right now

Risk i love the game.I even used to cry when i lost.....we alwasy used to play it but not so often these days(dad would alwasy pick on me cause i was good(compared to the rest of the family) and so i always lost has he had no care for his territoires and would go hard out on me the whole game).I love the strategy games and that has to be one of the best as a board game

Have you played the LOTR risk game?
The one I played was Two Towers so there is no morder or harad.
I didn't find it as good as the real world version but that's just my 2 cents ;D

I have started my marines, with all assembled and 1 completly painted, but the rest arn't even undercoated and I ran out of spray undercoat.Grooaannnn.So I am now doing my Dreadnought which is undercoated, until I do get some more spray undercoat.Speaking of which where do you guys think the best place to get spray paint is?I mean brand wise and cheapness as GW have upped there price again to $22 and i'm sick of it!It dont even last that long-or maybe i use it carelessly, but wheres the best place, and if Dustan your going to say Bunnings,we dont have one :-)

In my mind for the best primer you should go to car shops. I use one from the local car shop that is about $12 for a big tin, and is the best primer I have tried, not just a matt paint. Failing that, get primers from the warehouse, they aren't bad and will only set you back about $8.
