Well, my resin bases are proving popular, so it's time to expand the range. I'd appreciate any suggestions, and your comments on the following;
20mm square: I'm working on these now, in "basic" and "rocks" styles. Since I presume these would only be used for warhammer humans / smaller characters, I am guessing things like "steel plates" would not be popular. Wood floor boards maybe, cobblestones too. what do you think? any others?
Other sizes: larger squares? Cavalry bases? G-nome has suggested 80mm x 20mm for multiple figures?
Any other styles / sizes/ shapes?
Bear in mind to make a mold I am going to have to reckon on selling a fair number of each base, so they have to be fairly generic. You probably wouldn't want 100 minis all mounted on base that had a dead colleague on it, for example.

Lets see...
sizes could be 20mm and 25mm square, I think cavalry is 25*40. Regiment bases are quite popular I think, 20*80, 20*100, 25*100 altho Im not that fond of them. The only other thing Ive seen that caught my eye was the larger FoW bases which would be good for War machine dioramas. Chariots too I suppose but only some people need them and only a couple each. I think they would be 50*80. These of course are "Warhammer" sizes, the only other game I know that "uses" square bases is Mordheim, which cobblestones and wooden planking would be great for, but I dont think its that popular a game.
A generic stoney ground would be good to save the need for flocking. Thats probably all I would use because its supposed to be bigger battles and more often fought on open ground, e.g fields. but someone doing dwarfs, darkevles or Skaven might be keen to do an underground theme (cobbles or irregular rock floor?) the other option might be something swampy/jungley for Lizardmen or Desert style for Tombkings. I think an army standing on floorboards might look a bit strange but Im sure there would be some demand for it, ie I'd want half a dozen or so for my Mordheim warbands.

Funnily enough, i cast one recently that failed for some reason, and it has what looks like just like a pool of water in the middle.
now all I have to is work out what went wrong, then try and get it wrong again!

heheh. If i had a dollar for everyone who said that I'd have about $32 ;D I'm thinking about making a chocolate bar mold and casting up some fake bars. Whenever my wife's friedns come round when I'm casting they all go "ooh! what are you making with the milky bars?"
Sorry, did I not send a round wood? I'll chuck one in the post, or give you one when you come to my stall on Saturday.
... and I expect I'll see a lot of you all there!

email for orders please but in a nutshell; greenstuff $12 25mm bases $5 for 5 40mm bases $5 for 3 I only do 40mms in Rocks or Gravel (at the moment) For the cracked earth thing; are you thinking about the sort of thing you see in death valley, with irregular shaped bits of earth, lifting away at the edges? Find me a pic if you can, can't see it being a problem.

I thought that's what you meant, I'll get onto that on my next molding run.
As for the new 40mms:
Up till you asked, I would have said the chance was between very slim and zero. I thought 40mm rounds were only used for LOTR cavalry, so didn't think those styles would be popular. Am I wrong again?

I kind of think you're right (from a GW point of view). The only other thing I can think of is a big fat Orc Warlord (40K) but not sure.
Are you planning any square bases in different sizes?

Again, it's all down to supply and demand; You demand it, I'll supply it! I need to know things will sell before going to the expense of mold making, so if there's anything you want, it wouldn't do any harm to round up some support, and get them to post here

well
LOTR use them for large minis and mounted. So any cavalry/warge use it.
The floors boards and metal plates look awesome and would be nice in diaramas. I'd possible use one for the biblo mini I have..then again I might just used the 25mm version
How many would you have to sell to initially cover your cost.
BTW, big bob used the square brick base for a vampire mini...it came out fantastic!!

Good to hear! I'd like to see a pic of that if possible.
To make it worthwhile, for a 40mm base, I'd need to sell in the region of 10 - 12 packs (three bases per pack)
