Hi all, a whiles back I mentioned I was working on a special secret project. Its time to reveal what I was working on to keep my scrap of sanity during the last few months of painting Orks.
So far as brief plans there will be a number of stock standard ogres but most of it will have a little something done in GS... even if its just removing the unsightly cracks the shoulders have...
I kinda liked the fuzz on Golgfag Maneater, Mercinary Captain. in particular the part about carrying his coffers after eating his pay master... Its a no brainer that the trench coat sporting man eater is atleast partly based on the story...
Here is my album, there are a lot more pics there for you all to have a look at.
But I want to write a bit about them so....
Golgfag Maneater
First thing I had to do was get rid of his pussy iron fist and ball'n'chain Then equip him with the greedy fist, My favourite ogre magic item, This item eats the magic power of your opponents magic weapons and drains levels from his mages.
Other than the greedy fist he will stay fairly standard, keeping the gutplate with the chests. I am wondering if I should fill the eye socket with a GS eye or go one better and hammer in a small crystal to act as a spangleshard (magical ward save). Also I got the treasure chest from the mordenheim sprue though I am having trouble choosing where to mount it... either hanging from him or have a sword gnobler carry it.
Next is my Leadbelchers (I plan on getting another boxed set for 2 units of 5 (max strength))
Yes that one in the front is... yes you can have a better look =]
The Thunderfists utilised the extra cannon and mortar that you get when you buy empire cannons... I was gunna build custom chassis for them to bolster my empire army but I figured an ogre made a better chassis
I started sculpting these just after I started construction on the storm boyz, Orges is easy cause dey is sooo big =]
I reckon its not to poor an attempt so I thought what the hell, I might be able to save some $$
Hes gunna be my Slaughter master come butcher... depending on army size. Since I did the sculpting on these guys I have been practising on other smaller models like converting dark eldar to harliquins and adding little details... so it can only get better aye
I am working on a unit of ironguts at the moment, they give enough special heads and gut plates for 6 models so I am converting a couple more up...
this is a rough outline of what the army will include by the end
Tyrant
2 Brusiers
butcher
slaughtermaster
hunter
2x 8 Ironguts
2x 5 Leadbeltchers
2x 6 bulls
about 100 gnoblers (I want to customise them all, one set of stock and all the rest converted, at least a weapon swap, this number includes a trappers)
a gorger or 2
3-5 yetee
1 or 2 Slave Giants (I want to sculpt my own)
a couple scrap launchers
and maybe a few rhinox riders...
Yeah its a big army, but its only like 2 batallion boxes, one army box and maybe another 2 box of bulls and a box of gnoblers... lets face it, even a non horde army becomes a horde army if you let me get near it =]
I will have the army boxed set by christmas (hopefully I can pay it off in the next week or 2 so I dont run out of models.
Dont ask about paint schemes yet... I am leaning towards NMM, but at the moment i am painting harliquins. These dancing panzies are both practise for my painting techniques and something COMPLETELY different from painting orks =]
Coments welcome, especially on the butcher... there are some things I dont like about him, particularly the length of the arms and the size creep in the shoulders, he will be as tall as Golgfag (head and shoulders above a ogre bull) when he is done.
Yes this post appears elsewhere on the net and is almost the same, I changed it a bit for you guys cause most of you know whatI have been doing.
BTW I will be converting FIRST and painting second... these models will be easier to paint assembled as the shoulders NEED GS work and sometimes the heads do too. besides, I want to get them ready for play ;D
