it is a shame trademe doesn't allow you to cross list (i think that is the term) what I mean is like list the same auction under two different categories, like in toys & models > war games, and also under collectables. Ebay allows you to do this at an extra charge but you get so much more exposure

Yikes! That is good. Very good. I would charge in the region of $150 for a job like that (although I don't think mine would come out that good) and I think he really deservesa couple of hundred bucks for that. Note "deserves", not "will get"! Would anyone like to risk their TradeMe privileges and invite that guy here? looks like he could teach us all a thing or two.

(unlike, say, PitYak Studios ;D). The tools I have on auction are going well in the wargames category, but not so well in the pottery category. It would be so logical to be abble to list in multiples. AND they'd make money. No, I'm not very impressed with TradeMe.

Yeah I was thinking they might just be interested in what you're trying to create here. It also goes to show that you can clearly illustrate how a good model is painted on trademe, if you can take a good picture. I really need a digital camera... PitYak your the boss I vote you tell them about this forum... but if your nevous about your proffesional rep create a new profile before you do.

Tell me about it!
I am lucky enough to have access to a couple of decent cameras occasionaly, and it makes all the difference.
I am tempted to ask a Q on that guys auction and give him our address here, but I can't afford to have my account suspended.

The only effective way to encourage TradeMe to do anything would be for everyone to go over to one of their competition sites, but I can't see that happening.
You aren't allowed to give out any contact details, which includes this address since a savvy user can find contact details on this forum. The TradeMe line is that this for your protection, which is obviously bullshit, it is so if you want to sell something you have to go through them, and they get their cut.

Ive come up with a solution so nobody has to risk their TM account. One of us buys his model then we can talk to him freely. ;D I just need each of you to give me a tenner and I'll cover the rest. O

Hi guys & Gals. Thanks for the positive feed back on my virgin mission into TM & now 'PitYak'. I'm definitely a novice in both arenas so be gentle. I'm the 'Wyvern' guy and am stunned at the interest shown in such a brief period of time.
There's no need to purchase said figure ;D(Cash & all major credit cards accepted, we're open everyday but Sunday) for info about my painting but bear in mind I'm a part-timer. I'm about as far away from the GW method of painting figures as you can get. As far as TM is concerned I'll let you know how it goes but I'm fairly sure(60-40) that my stuff wont go. Cheers

Hi, pleased to see you here. I'm definately interested in trying to find an outlet where we can sell decently painted minis for a reasonable amount, not just what the blank cost you plus a few pennies to cover paint... if you're lucky. I see stuff being bid on in the states and selling for quite high prices. I'm not talking about production line quickly knocked up armies, but display quality pieces. I would rather put the hours into one piece that is going to fetch top $ than painting screeds of legions. I alos dabble with one of a kind repainted and dressed dolls. Huge market overseas for these, but again on trademe I've had absolutely no luck at all
The choices as I see it are that we train the local market to appreciate and purchase our creations. Or we start selling on Ebay like everyone else does. One thing I have learned about selling stuff, is that if you can create the market you can sell it. Any ideas how we can build up a local market? get them used to the idea of forking out top $ for a well finished display piece. So far the best option has been to list in the collectables field, perhaps keeping the minis to more generic fields.. the wyvern would probably have appeal to someone who collects dragons for instance. If there are a few of us prepared to list and try to attract the attention of others we could swing it

Im still not entirely happy about the whole "second hand dealer" thing on TM, they've explained it but still oleave me wondering where abouts us miniatures collecters fit in.. Could someone who actually understands legal gobbledegook please explain it to me?

(guessing here) we aren't selling "second hand goods".
If you buy some timber, make a wardrobe and sell it, are you selling second hand wood? NO, you're selling a crafted piece of furniture.
When you go to the McWorkshop, buy a figure, turn it into a work of it art and sell it on, that's not a second hand item in my book.
