Here's the preamble to what I hope will be a 6 month army diary.
The army I'm going to be working on will be begin as a 1000 point army using the Sylvanian rules set from the Storm of Chaos book, avaliable for perusal here.
I will be using these rules to represent the historical host of a Bretonnian Noble who fled from the dukedom of Mousillion during the affair of the false grail into the Forest of Arden. The forest of Arden is a dark, twisted place slightly north of Mousillion and it was here that they fled alone, or so they thought.
The Forest of Arden is everything but empty, and the passing of the host was soon noticed by more than one watcher as the noble was soon to discover.
The forest had begun to exact it's wicked toll on the host no sooner than their first night. A monster, dubbed le chien de guerre by the peasents, walked amongst them. Each day they would awake to find more of their kin brutalised by this monster, their throats torn and their bodies torn. The noble tried to organise hunting parties to stop the beast, but each would fail, starving peasents and the few knights who remained could not track down what threatened them.
Putting his own personal safety aside for honour, the noble knew what had to be done. With neither peasent nor knight in sight he donned his armour, mounted his warhorse and set out to call a challenge in the way of old. However, the bounds of honour were unknown to this dark agressor who ducked and weaved through the shadows taunting the noble and who could do little but slash blindly at the hidden threat as he rode through the dark forest. Infuriated by his elusive target, the noble rode once more and with a prayer to the lady, brought his broadsword to bear and struck at the attacker one last time, the massive blade hewed through it's chest and it emitted a bestial howl though much to the horror of the noble, the flesh around the wound began to twist and stretch until it engulfed the weapon and with that, the shortswords which lay sheathed at the beasts side seemingly lept of their own accord to it's hands as he criss crossed the nobles chest, his warm lifeblood pouring down from his shredded chest and with his dieing breath, the noble gasped but two words 'Von Carstein'.
Showered with blood, the vampire entered the host's encampent with ease, his mental will shattering all but the strongest. The first to turn were the bestial hounding hounds of the noble, breaking freee from their reins and tasting the warm flesh of their captors as the vampire whirled amongst them, each time he lashed out a new victim fell, only to rise once again for their new master. So formed the host of Lorthain, but the slaughter of the night of frenzy merely served to foreshadow the pain that would fill this cursed land...
So with that aside, here's the list I'll be working to :

As for the models, in order to fit the theme better they will be as follows :
The militia will be battle pilgrims, with a small mix including frenzied mob models, carnival of chaos models and witch hunters warhounds to fluff out the unit.
The levy are going to be converted from a mix of bretonnian peasents and zombie bits.
The Black Knights (this'll be explained in a later update) will be questing knights.
The Dire Wolves are going to the be the nobles hunting hounds, so I'll be using the Mordheim Witch Hunters Warhounds on Cavalry bases to represent them.
I borrowed a mates army and had a play around with the army list. The list turned out to be dead 'ard against the dwarf army I played and wiped them out to a man, but it was all good fun.
