Damn Stu youve broken it down into bases!
Now none of my business but I would reccommend breaking them down into squads of 3 bases cause I think it will do 2 things: 1 - Look less intimidating 2 - turn it into more of a production line. If you paint all the green (?) on the models then all the flesh etc. it will speed up the painting speed.
It means you are doing more each week but hey then you can have a week off to spend with ya family!

Heh, I'm treating my weekly breakdown as more of a guide-line than anything...just as long as I finish the monthly work in the month it's assigned to I'll be happy. I do intend to production line them as much as possible...but eventually I find that kind of painting wears me down a bit...which is why that list is all mixed up with Infantry bases and Vehicles... What I am going to have to teach myself is how to speed paint 15mm figures

Are the 15cwt the equivalent of US 1.5Ton trucks?
My problem is I think the US 3/4 Ton trucks are just plain ugly but I can't figure out what the British equivalent is.
For some reason the Howitzer command & Staff feels the need to travel in trucks. What do the British 25pdr com use for transport? anything?

The Brits are good because a lot of their HQ and command units are happy to tool around in Universal Carriers (at least according to the rules...don't know how historically accurate that is). The 17/25pdr command is in a UC as is the 6pdr Portee command.
The 25pdr command actually require the 2 x 15cwt trucks. I don't really know what they're equivalent too...they're not that sexy though (being trucks) and I'm going for the el-cheapo resin variety. I assume the 25pdr command travel in trucks because the 4 x 25pdr artillery unit would really be set up in a fixed position for some time.
I love the Universal Carrier though. What a great idea! A cheap open topped tracked vehicle with light armor. Mad - in a very British way. Basically they were used the same way the US used Jeeps - although being tracked they could handle worse terrain I guess and protected you from small arms.
The models are quite nice too...I've been banging lots of stowage in some of mine. Some of the historic photos show a staggering amount of stuff being piled into UC's and on the back decks of Stuart 'Honey's.

Im starting to think its an artilery thing your 25pdrs & my 105 Howies, everyone else uses Jeeps which are cheap (3 for $16) & look quite cool but of course the unit I most want to field 105mm Howies use ugly trucks (Dont get me wrong I like trucks but these trucks are baaaad).
Oh well Im on the hunt for an alternative. Thanks for the help!

In accordance with the rules I've posted my June 'before' shot here on www.tabletop-terrain.com. Here's a thumbnail: My purchase for this month was a $27.95 British 8th Army Rifle Platoon blister from Vagabond's in Auckland City. This doesn't actually match my original planning above! Oh well .

Thanks Phil, 15mm is new to me and I've discovered you can get away with quite a lot of un-painting . I'm only highlighting their flesh and the helmet. Everything else is just a single coat over the brown base coat. Still, it seems to work and means I'll be able to stick to my deadlines hopefully! Might even have an Infantry platoon finished by the end of June...if I'm lucky!

That's it - the 20mm's I'm doing aren't much bigger, and it's all about painitng an illusion, rather than trying to accurately paint every detail.

Hey that looks great! Your setting the bar nice and high, good stuff!
Looks like the sand in the poly filla worked too. Base could possibly use some detailing but its a bit deceiving when its that large in the picture & what they look like in real life!
Must say impressive photography too!

Yeah the bases are rather bare. I tossed up between making some larger rock piles for the prone figures to hide behind and/or sticking down some suitably yellow static grass to represent the thorn bushes that were common to North Africa...but then I painted a few more bases bare and thought they didn't look too bad as a group. It certainly looks like desert! And there's lots of plain old sand in N.A. I figure I'll just keep the Infantry bases plain but apply more detail to any future terrain I create...hopefully the two will work together nicely. Plus the time I save not-detailing bases I can paint more figures . Done a second base already and almost got a third finished. I think I'll totally disregard my original planning and maybe shoot for a Rifle Platoon this month because it would be nice to have an entire gameable unit finished!

Well these are the first bases so its rather a matter of doing them and seeing how they look before making alterations for the next lot.
Wot about the idea of sticking in pieces of kitty litter when you are plastering up your next lot of bases. not heaps but maybe 2 or 3 rocks on a base would just break it up a little. Thorn bushes would be cool but again not every trooper is gonna be standing behind a thorn bush.
I think that quite a few of the FoW armies Ive seen they've worked on each base as a diorama with a certain disregard for the overall look of the army. The army ends up looking too busy when viewed on mass.

Aw crap, just as well I haven't varnished anybody yet! Just discovered I've painted the WWII British SMLE standard rifle incorrectly. There was evidently a wooden cover over the barrel almost to the end of the gun...I've painted these all as exposed metal. 5 minutes with the Scorched Brown tonight will fix that.
That's one problem with a historical game I guess!
