Okay Here we go...... My friend and I hope to achive an army worthy of entering into the NZ 40K Grand tournament.(1500 point World Eaters)
Each month we would like to have played games with our army and discuss what important units it needs for that month.
I am sure we will be able to keep to the deadlines for each month and have a great time doing this great monstrosity of a competition that has been organised.

In case you hadn't already guessed, my names Ed.
I'm swinging back into Fantasy after a wee misguided 40k stint and I'll be working on an army using the Sylvanian rules from the Storm of Chaos book to represent the undead host of a Bretonnian noble.
Overall I will be hoping to do an army which is both competitive and has reasonable visual impact. Although the army has competiveness as it's aims, I'm not a massive gamer so I don't get massive amounts of gaming in but the gaming scene is pretty active where I am so I will be able to play on a regular basis.
EDIT : I'll steal Aaron's idea of what I think I'd like to buy over the next few months.
Month One : 18 Battle Pilgrims 9 Mordheim Warhounds
Month two : 25 Zombies 3 Mordheim Warhounds
Month three: 3 Pegasus Knights One Questing knight
Month four : 7 Questing Knights
Month 5 : 7 Battle Pilgrims, tie up loose ends.
Month six : Bits and other stuff worked up to top the army off with some characters.
Each month I'd like to deepen the theme, paint some great miniatures and most of all have some fun while sharing my escapades with the forum.

Ok well I plan to collect a 1500pt Flames of War Army. Its a mid-war US Infantry Regiment (the 116th).
This is my plan of attack for the next 6 months. Its entirely likely things will change before the end but if I stick to this it should give me a good basic force. Themed around the 116th Infantry Regiment fighting in Normandy & historically accurate (hmm, mostly) I hope to get to the end and have an army to be proud of!
First Month A Regimental HQ + 1 Bazooka Teams 2 Infantry Platoons + Bazooka Teams 3 M4A3 Shermans 2nd Month Weapons Platoon + I & R Platoon 3rd Month Mortar Platoon 4th Month Infantry Platoon + HMG Platoon 5th Month 3 M5A1 Stuarts + Air Support 6th Month Scenery/Terrain.
I think, having never painted 15mm before (or played FoW) thats a good amount to get done but <shrug> Lets get stuck in and find out!
P.s. Sorry for the excessive detail but I sat down and worked it all out yesterday... good timing!

Hey, as far as I understand how this goes, this is my plan - I wish to have 1500 point Sisters of Battle Army ready for JonnyCon (local group tournament) This army is to include a lot of conversion work, including some figures that aren't for use within battles - for instance, I'm in the middle of making a sister of battle on a bike, not viable within the rules.
This month I'd like to finish painting my basic troop choices, which should be easy, as I have 15 of the twenty painted already.

Are we all going to start a new thread for each contestant, where we can post all all things for the month??

Alrighty then I'll bite. Mainly because Aaron and Nate appear to be starting FOW forces and it'd be great to get my motley NZ force painted and based so I can show them the power of the British 25pdr gun. I've posted the details of what I've already done and what I've yet to do on my blog under this post. I've actually purchased around half of the force with another half to go at this point. That means all up I'll only be spending $150 over the course of 6 months (having already spent another $150 earlier). I've also painted a handful of vehicles but it's all documented on that post. The next thing I need to do is break up the 6 months and do some planning and set some deadlines for the remaining pieces. It's really the Infantry that are worrying me...I anticipate taking most of the time painting and basing them. Tally ho old chaps! Wot wot!

What ho! Welcome aboard old bean!
...and Sanctus too - that looks like quite a force.
The contest is hotting up it would seem, so get those first posts up.
As suggestsed above, each of you should create your own thread, and we'll go from there.
They don't like it up 'em!

Hey all, I figure that a gaming board might be in order for all these armies being created! I plan to, over the months, create a 3' x 5' (15 tiles total, 5 interchangeable) board with 5x 3' interchangable tiles, 1 in each corner, 1 middle, that can be swapped and still stay level with the board. 2 of these will be plain (as in grass, trees etc), 3 will have some sort of structure/item etc on them for big terrain/objectives etc. If you all respond, I'd like to run with themes or ideas that you all put through. 28mm scale (40k, WHFB etc), with the idea to create a board with many, many combinations. Month 1 All planning - mainly sketching of features, 3d computer modelling etc, aimed at getting feedback from members as to what they think would be good/bad/improved etc. Both board and tiles to be shown and improved/changed by you all. Month 2 Into it! Building of basic board structure, hills, roads, etc etc Month 3 Painting and grassing, building/addition of trees and grasses. Also ponds, water etc Month 4 Building of 5 tiles, with relatively basic items on them, 2 with plain terrain, 3 with, say, factory type buildings, or fuel storage or something. Probably something futuristic. Month 5 Building of 3 extra tiles, with a different theme to them – I'm thinking archaeological dig (I've got neat bits around for that at the moment) or tents or something. Probably something old fashioned or WHFB or something. The idea of the second set is to create a multi-purpose board. Month 6 Final details – addition of tiny details that take a lot of time – computer terminals, jackets lying around, etc. How's that sound, PitYak and everybody?

Im late Im late....
Hi, have pity on me, I am a student with exams barreling up overdue assignments and all.
I have been toiling away on my orks for over 4 years, I got piles of unpainted figures all over the place, the problem is i love conversions so i never make a real push into the boyz.
Completed already is a warboss and retinue of 5, dreadnaught, and a squad of kommandos. they will appear in the final army but not in the contest. I have half built conversions and models with bits and pieces of color here and there... very few that i wouldnt sacrifice to a good coat of black.
in total there are a couple hundred figures awaiting work with know exact idea of the points total.
Basically if there is no monetry restriction than I want to get all these models painted and done... plus i will undoubtedly buy more grots and boyz...
What do ya say, I am late to enter but paint pumps through my veins and commands me =]
