yeah, I reckon any site offering free gw stuff would be closed down pretty quick.
I picked up an old copy of warhammer fro next to nothing. There's newer versions, but why would i care?

They are a great source of inspiration those old books. Ive never parted with a rulebook or magazine as long as Ive been collecting. Sure sometimes the old painting style was pretty hideous (thinking some of the GW fantasy from about 10yrs ago) but even that can give you an idea of what doesn't work but apart from the pics there are all the stories and artworks (some of which should be released as prints!)

PITYAK LOOK AWAY!!
ok Im just gonna give a little thumbs up to GW here (one and only time) they have actually released all of their specialist games rule systems free for download form the internet.
Thats Necromunda, Battlefleet gothic, Epic, Warmaster & inquistor. All free for download all of which are very good games, especially Necro and Inquistor.

Wow. Me too, but I'm still bloody surprised at that.
I never threw anything away ever, untill i decided to come over here and sold practically everything i owned, just to find out i could have sold it over here for more than it would have cost to ship. Ah well. 30 years of lead, comics, books and games down the drain. (The drain of the pub mostly)

no ones buying the models anymore and they have all this surplus stock sitting around collecting dust and are way to cheap to actually have a sale Ah yes but then we can just get their free rules then go buy someone elses miniatures and so long as you dont want to join a tournament no one will mind. of course this might not work for Warmaster and Epic as they seemed to randomly choose their own scale for those... wonder if its so no one other companies miniatures can be used... Dammit its really hard to get away from cynicism when your talking about GW. I'll never forget how they basically put my local comic/wargames shop out of business with their strict rules on purchasing. He had a choice drop GW or drop the whole store. I dunno what happened in the end only that he's not there any more... sorry a bit off topic.

That's what i find weird, this idea that there's only "the right way" to play your game.
It's a game for flip's sake!
Has anyone seen the auctions for mdf bases run by youngstan (who signed up here then dissappeared apparently)?
He lists all these different possible sizes you might want, and one day he had a question from someone (apologies if it was anyone here!) saying "you don't do xmm X xmm, that's the standard size for a base."
Really? One standard size for any concievable scale, period or rule set?

Haven't played a game for years. (The occassional solo set-up just to see all the figures in full flight!) but we get back to the old chestnut of being spoonfed the whole shebang. Doesn't anyone just play a game and who cares if the Superduper Chaos Guard are armed with laser cannon or toothpick!
I recently downloaded the Huzzah rules for freeee and I'll try them out once I finish painting the Austrian brigade and the multiplying LOTR figures that just keep coming.

The occassional solo set-up just to see all the figures in full flight! That's called "playing with toy soldiers" ;D
