Ok, so at work we've got a Secret Santa thing to do. $10 gift and all that.
I drew a young lady in Finance who I know is almost a Tae Kwon Do black belt (mainly because she's often limping around the office bruised) and she even sent around some photos of her mid fight in a recent tourny she entered.
I have a couple of fully poseable action figure dolls (like Stikfas, but another manufacturer, I forget the name) still in blister and they come with a couple of martial arts weapons (sword & staff).
So I'm thinking of taking one of those photos from the tourny and creating a new fake foam card 'back board' for the figure with some suitable text involving the lady's name etc.
So! A question for Phil: I can open and discard the old blister backing easily enough, but what do you do to clean the excess paper/glue off the blister? Soak it in soapy warm water overnight and scrub lightly? Also what do you use to reattach the blister to a new back board? I'm thinking PVA and staples?
Any other tips for fake dollyage? This particular figure is bare (no printing) but does come with a sticker set. Possibly I could create a suitable facial sticker (depending if I can get a decent shot) and slap that on it's head?

are they the sort of legoish figures? like not actually sculpted faces, just cylinders with stickers on? If so a sticker idea might be good, especialy if you can sort of cartoonify it in photoshop. my basic approach (for regular type action figures) is to resculpt the head, then scrounge steal or scratch whatever accesories are needed.
'fraid I'm not going to reveal how I do my packaging as that I feel is one of the strongpoints of my figures. I will say the method you've got in mind isn't what I do, but will give a reasonable enough result. You can use acetone to get the gunk of the blister safely enough, and staples are probably better than pva. you could also use clear tape to attach it, if you get some of the super clear stuff available. Like I say, that's not how I do it, but I have done it that way in the past and the results weren't too bad

on the same subject, my wife's a tupperware demonstrator, and she has their whole range in 1:6 scale as keyrings. I was meant to be doing a fig of her with all these little plastic goodies for christmas, but as it's just over a week away and I haven't started, I guess it'll have to be something else.

Heh. Yeah I don't want to expend too much effort since it's just a crappy work secret santa thing. Might scour the toy shops for a suitable Karate chick (surely there's something)! And just replace the back board with something funny. Failing that I'll use my simple action figure and try stickers/paper ghi maybe!

A suitable donor shouldn't be hard to find with all the manga figures out there, but they aren't cheap. I would try the $2 shop and palces like that, they usually have all kinds of weird figures
