Just thought I'd let all you power tooless peopel know about this. I call it a dremel even though it is a brand name and not the actual tool name because I have no idea what else to call it aside from rechargeable whizzy thingy
Hubby bought this for me for xmas from mitre 10, yes how cool is that my hubby buys me power tools! no flowers for this woman. It was 19.95 or there abouts, it's a rechargeable battery tool and came with an absolute shitload of diamond bits, grinder stones, cutting discs, sanders polishers drill bits blah blah blah. I'd have a total ball with it since i got it. it's not adjustable speed but for the price it rocks!
Anyone who doesn't already own an ungodly expensive dremel shoudl realy consider getting themselves one of these to play around with, total fun. I even used mine to polish the brash number on the house.
just remember to use a dustmask when grinding or working on anything that creates dust even if you don't think you are inhaling it you are!

I bought yet another "golf cleaning kit" from mitre 10 the other day - it is a Dremel branded tool, and only $25. Battery operated, but this one I'm going to rig for mains, and use it as a bench mounted lathe / grinder/ buffer. These are damn good tools for the price. They are two speed, and have only one disadvantage; the finger grip section is not removable so they won't take a chuck without some modification.
I call them all "Dremels" too, (although this one is actually Dremel brand) and even use dremel as a verb.
What brand is your one? I think I remember seeing them a while back.

As an aside, the cheaper ones are often more suited to the sort of work most of us do - they tend to be lower speeed, which is more useful I find for working on small stuff, particularly when it's plastic or soft metal.

yeppers that is the one I got. I wanted to get a dremel but nearly died at the prices, plus the cost of the bits and then we saw that on the BOTTOM shelf. It was actually a bit of a fluke find, there was a stack of them underneath. I decided that I'd let hubby buy me that one for xmas as long as he bought me a box of choccies as well to make up for being cheap lol

Curses. Mitre 10 Onehunga have none in stock.
Apparently Glenfield and Takapuna Mitre10's have them...which explains why I've never seen them!
Hey Dustan! Feel like picking me one up if you're in one of the shore Mitre 10's anytime soon?
