G'runteed. there is absolutely no thinners. whatsoever. at all.
when it cures it actually turns into like a foam which can be cut with a hot wire cutter. it has fantastic gap filling qualities and the glue that ends up comming out the edges can be cut easily with a knife.
I will also g'runtee that if you glue it in the wrong place that what you glue will will break around the glue...
It also leaves an almost un-noticable seam.
You MUST secure the two things in place with clamps, weights (over 10 kg in a 220mm
2 area on 4.75mm mdf). either that or watch it dry and reposition it as needed because although there is no shrinkage it forms a foam which can float unsecure pieces out of place. I found out the hard way...
Heres some more detailed info about how it works...
Essentially this glue dries BETTER and Faster with high humidity and warm temeratures. It actually says on the bottle that if the surfaces are very dry you should moisten them a little.
Most glues are about 60 - 70% glue and the remainder made up of thinners (water in PVA, oil based in many other glues) Gorilla glue is 100% glue and draw in moisture to help it cure.
It is repositionable for about 30 minutes and acheives about 90% of full stength in about 2 hours. 100% in 24 hours.
your resistance wire on your foam cutter will idealy change colour (ie red) as I found it was much easier to cut through. ways to do this are shortening your wire (best) or upping your amperage (worst).
it will stick almost everything. it cant warp MDF or any other materials, it looks like golden syrup and will temporarily stain skin or permanently stain clothes. If I remember correctly you can wipe up excess glue with a rag (possably with water...)
its got a bit of an odour if you get too close but I found it quite ignorable even when i had 8 things glueing in my half house sized garage =)
It is fantastic glue, it will almost completely replace pva from your construction and to a lesser extent it will replace my hot glue gun. Keep the pva though as Gorilla glue turns into a yellow/cream foam and pva goes clear.
If you arent impressed with this glue after you tried it I will buy any mostly full bottles, offer valid untill someone else confirms that this glue really is all I have said it to be...
Fix All also make a Caulking cartridge version of this glue which I believe to be the same but as a thick non drip gel.
In the cartridge form if you glue 2 pieces of floor grade chip board together along the edge they say the join (which is almost unnoticable and doent swell the the edges) will hold up to 5 tons.
They also have a clear sealent which may be useable for flexable water effects... like a star gate
as it can also bridge gaps
the last two products I mentioned, I havent tested yet so I cant tell you much more than that.
Anyway, if you got to glue polystyrene or foam then this is the glue you will want
