Check out this baby I just got; I got it hoping to use for removing flash from polythenes, but the gun shape makes it a bit unwieldy for that. I was going to take it back, but thought I would try it on the old poly foam first. Woohoah! talk about a hot knife through butter. Beats a hot wire cutter hands down, and it's easy to make custom tips out of wire for different cuts / temperatures. It's even got a little bulb that shines on your work. The only disadvantage over a hot wire cutter may possibly be it's cutting depth; a hot wire stretched between two points can probably get through thicker sheet than this, but with a bit of fiddling I'm sure I'll get a tip made to do that to.

Nuts! I was just slicing up some DOW sheeting last night wondering how the hell I'm going to cut a 600x600mm square of foam with a wire cutter with a 10cm depth.
Where'd you get it from? And are there any more?

I got it from my local tool source, for those who've been following those stories.
It was the only one of it's type there, but there is a more expensive, and no doubt therefore better, version in stock.
