Following on from Sanctus offer of sprue to a good home, a topic to which most of us have the required materials: Sprue
Post your ideas, speculations and pictures and we can see if sprue can become grey gold and indeed a versitile and abundant modeling material.
Sprue Rubble
Cut Sprue into chunks and glue down as a bawing material. It works, it looks ok, but you can almost always see that it is/was sprue.
Sale mail
(Credited to my buddy: Aaron Henderson)
Carefully slice 'ribbons' of sprue by keeping your knife at a low angle, it will curl off much like icecream into a scoop. the resulting natural curve conforms to models as beefy as orks or scrawny as skaven. I will post some pictures of my plastic Clanrat -> Storm Vermin conversions once I get home. The arent physically much bigger but the added armour makes them stand out in the crowd.
Sprue Bushes
These occured to me as a result of making scale mail.
Take a stick of sprue and trim the four long corners of them, giving you a more rounded 8 sided stick, now carefully slice into the small end but maybe 1cm from the end of the stick on a slight angle towards the center of the sprue. turn the stick as you go and try to always start at a corner. Again, the sprue will curl as you cut it. Eventually you will have a 1cm long pointy sprue nub that will break off easily.
Buy a 5 pack of runny superglue from the 2 dollar shop and after sticking it to the base put a big drop of glue in the center and blow it down into the leaves, otherwise it is to fragile and will likely break apart when you paint it... Let the glue dry properly before you paint it as super glue plus brush equals a brush even I can use =]
Ruins
I think I saw this one on Terragenesis, I will look for the link.
Cut sprue into bricks and glue like legos or hirst blocks
