ok i have established that u have to take your time and build this stuff up in layers over a period of time how do you get a nice smooth finish? .i find once i got a shape it usually has fingerprints in it somewhere so i try and flatten them out with a modelling tool what ever i have handy but ends up making streaks in my greenstuff ???any help would be appreciated

I'd say if you don't want fingerprints then ummm, don't touch it . Seriously everything I sculpt is mounted on a surface or rod of some kind so I don't actually have to touch the green stuff with my fingers. That way you can work on your details with just sculpting tools which don't leave fingerprints behind! To keep GS smooth I just use Vaseline on my sculpting tools. Also stops the damned stuff from sticking too. My 2c.
