Has anyone ever had any luck doing this?
I've read just about every tute I can find, but I'm buggerred if I can get it to work, and after being up till 2am looking for batteries for the camera, my patience is beginning to wear thin.
Help!

i scan them when I cant be buggered finding the camera not sure about tutorials. I just throw the mini on there place some fabric ovre the top and scan. It can be hard sometimes to get the mini in the right angle, and to stay put. Also scan to a fairly high res and reduce it down in photoshop or similar. I would typically run my scanner at around 900 dpi or higher depending how long I can be fagged waiting for a scan. Just be wary that a scanner is not overly kind to paint jobs :\ here's one i scanned www.coolminiornot.com/53704The colour in her face got washed out a bit, but it picked up the apron and shirt really well. It added a bit of shine to her backside which detracted from the shading I had done, but I've seen way worse pics\

I've seen that one before - nothing wrong with that.
Mine come out awful, you can't see anything but a sillouette, and the whole image is a mess of moire lines.

oh eww nasty
hmm how old is your scanner? mine is around 4 years old now it's an epson perfection 1260 and cost $250 i think. Do you have different settings on your scanner to tell it the kind of media you are scanning?. I know when I was buying mine I kept looking at the hp 3d scanner and thinking ooooo cool, but it was twice as much as mine.. Mine isn't a 3d scanner model persay, but honestly mine does a fine job of scanning 3d as long as it's not more than 3cm or so deep

mine's about the same age, and generally pretty good at flat scans (it's what I use for all my weapon pictures) but hopeless for anything else. It doesn't have much in the way of alterable settings; resolution, positive/negative and that's about it. It has loads of "advanced" settings, but they are just colour balancing.
