Not sure about that.
i use modelling clay from the warehouse. It's called "modelling clay" would you believe, and I think the manafacturer is called Happy Hands. It's $1.99 a pack.
If you coat it in PVA it goes pretty hard. Not set milliput kind ofhard, but good eneough for a lot of jobs.

how would you be wanting to use it? I find it's too elastic and retains its shape so is pretty hard to get any kind of detail into it. Also it is created with fairly low adhesion, sure it sticks, but it also pulls away cleanly. Only thing I use blue tack for is sticking models to a cork for painting, and masking out areas that I want to remain clean metal when I spray them. Superglue creates a better bond metal on metal, or so I'm told

I'd be careful about masking already painted areas with it, in case it lifted the paint.. I've seen the wall full of little dotswhere we removed my daughters posters and it took the paint with it, but yeah it's great for masking bits you want to remain clean metal when you're spraying
I wonder if windsor & newton masking fluid would be ok to use on top of painted areas, warehouse stationary have some, and you can also get it up at modelcrafts and hobbies.

Well the kind of money you're talking about for a bit of GS is minimal compared to what a rhino costs. Here's a link to a guy that sells it fairly cheap and he'll even mail it out to you! the time and effort that goes into converting things, plus the time in painting. You want the best looking results possible, go with the GS even if you have to wait another two weeks to scrape up the $$ to get some homepages.paradise.net.nz/marvelman/products.htm#supplies
