Ya know What I would like would be oval bases big enough to fit 40K bike models, though I dont see a great market in them as ver few armies have bikes. and very few people actually have large units of them, other uses would be cavalry but as there isnt much in the way of 40K cav I still cant justify their existance.
I would want one with a large flat rock that drops down a little and has gravel and rocks and one that is just gravel and rocks.
Maybe with a generic GW tire tread leading up tothe front of the base...
They may be big enough for skaven or imperial guard weapon teams. could also suit kroot hounds (crap troop) flesh hounds or steads of slaneesh.
Mostly I got 10 bikes to base in August...

Why dont you base bikers on the standard 50x25 mm base? they always look good, and I find that oval bases look too outta place (just look at the Mumak from LotR).
Just my 2c tho..

IMO swuare bases seem to look more static, I guess though thinking about the oval bases, they are kind out of place...
Might have to try and make one, see if i looks ok

Thats always the best bet. And I find for making prototype bases, clean meat trays work the best, cause it's about the right thickness and can be shaped easily.

If square looks static and oval looks out of place how about some other polygonal shape? A wedge or pointed triangle shape maybe? Ork bikes are usually bigger in the rear yeah? What with gun pods and grot side cars and the like . Would a wedge shape convey speed better than a rectangle? By wedge I mean /\ / \ | | | | ----
That kinda shape. Just a thought.

Well rounded fits the 40k theme, so maybe a rounded variation of the wedge?

Does a bike fit on a 40mm base? I don't have any bikers to try it out with, so maybe someone could find out?

Hmmm I was wondering if bikers would fit, cause like I said I dont have any.. Failing that you could mount them on the 60mm bases that PitYak's gonna make ;D

I've been meaning to get some new 40mm molds done, so i'll try and see what bigger bases I can do too. I probably won't go for the full range of styles in the bigger sizes, maybe just one or two.

Na just one or two biggers bases is fine, cause thy're not going to be overly popular, people will only need up to five in a 1500pt 40k army (if your lucky)
