ok, yeah I know we all love to bitch about it. I'm getting realy frustrated at their no contact policy!. eBay allows sellers and buyer to include their homepage details in their profile. Many eBay sellers link directly to their ineternet based shop sites. I think the difference is that eBay gets a cut from the listings, not just sales. But the whole no contact outside of TradeMe thing is just stifling and frustrating. I had this question on one of my auctions last night

Hi there - am interested in doing some make overs on some of my own dolls and was wondering if u created rosalind and if I could get in contact for advice??? Louise posted by: loozeynz (71 ) 9:27 pm, Wed 23 Feb
Yes I did create her. Well I created all the part after mattel sent her out into the world in her barbie box. I'm not sure how I could give you a contact without breaching tradme rules. They get so jumpy about the possibility of people making private trades.. but really why would I settle on a price with just one person when going to auction gives me a shot at better prices!
While Rosalind is an absolutely beautiful lady, I am not in a position to buy her. I collect mostly old pedigree sindy dolls and mary quant daisy dolls. Some of these are over 30 years old and a little the worse for wear to say the least. Thats why I am interested in customising them, I have seen some OOAK dolls of this type on ebay and on other sites. Is it ok with you if I contact trademe and see if they will pass on my email address to you so we can chat about this?? Regards - Lou posted by: loozeynz (71 ) 7:25 am, Thu 24 Feb
Yes, but I can't really see them going out of their way for you like that. Again we have the whole possible loss of a few $$ comission on an auction! Failing that option unaswered questions are not seen by anyone else, if you wanted to ask me something of a more personal nature I would be sensitive to your privacy and not reply to the question so others could not see

I'm half expecting a spank on the backside from TM for that. But I am curious, who polices auctions looking for contact details? how do they find out someone slipped an email adress or phone number into a question. If they have that many people policing the no contact rules, then why can they not do something about policing the sales of goods of dubious origin (see pityaks thread about recasts) Gods I wish eBay had a NZ page... I know there are other NZ based auction sites around. Anyone ever used them?
