I've been planning two camps for my DBA samurai; one with a pagoda, the other with an ornamental japanese garden and a bridge over a koi pond. So yesterday I scoured the model shop for the model railway textured plastic stuff for making bricks and tiled roofs and stuff. Then for some reason I went into an antique shop (I never go in antique shops) and guess what I found; a japanes bridge and pagoda! They are both cheesy slip-cast ceramic seaside souvenir type things, but are exactly the right size, and hopefully will paint up OK. The woman in the shop thought I was mad when I asked for a ruler to measure them before I bought them!

They certainly look the right scale for 20/15mm figures and should paint up well after you hit them with a good solid spray of a nice flat black enamel

Nice find! They'll be ok after some paint and basing.

yeah, I reckon they should be good once gunked in matt black and repainted. the real reason I took this photois so I could remember what colours they were originally.
and while it's a bit stink to apply the word "scale" to things like this, the pagoda is spot on for 20mm, the bridge is a tad smaller, and would be perfect for 15mm, but certainly good enough for20mm, particulalry if I don't actually have figures standing on it, whichwas the original plan, but just sort of milling around around with the bridge in the background.
Now I just need to find some 20mm koi???

to complement these I'll be doing a samurai BUA. I've got a zvezda samuari hq, which is basically a sort of tent with no top, a BUA in a box, complete with officers and standard bearers and the like. I'm really tempted to base the whole caboodle with a real bonsai tree, but I think that might be a bit ambitious.

Well the pagoda didn't last long, I'e just knocked it off my bench. the roof survived, but all the wals are knackered. Shouldn't be too hard to replace, and I wasn't keen on the plinth it was standing on anyway, so no major hassle

You could make it a ruined pagoda...... or the bonsai tree is growing through the abandoned building
