Anyone have experience with this stuff? www.norski.co.nz/index2.htmlI've been trying to find a medium for decent water and checking out the different water effects stuff. Vallejo, GW, woodland scenics etc.. I'm not overly keen on paying out big money for what seems to be thickened pva glue (if anyone has information that could point to it being something other than pva please let me know!) I don't really want to fap around layering sticky white glue over a week to build up to the desired level. So I started checking out the clear epoxies and found this stuff. There is a reseller on trademe and it's $40 for a 1 litre www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=86929967 . Is this a good price? and is the stuff ok, excellent , to be avoided like the plague. I'm figuring that I'd have to make sure everything is sealed up well before I poured it. I want to make a few fountains and water features with my hirst blocks

I think Pityak Phil might have mentioned it in the past but I haven't tried it myself. I resorted to using Polyurethane floor varnish for my simple, flat water effects (stagnant canal water).
One thing I can say is whatever you do, do NOT try using Woodland Scenics older 'plastic beaded water'. It's a total waste of time. I quite agree that their other water products do just seem to be some kind of treated PVA glue. Heck it even smells like PVA! But doesn't exhibit the usual shrinking on drying that PVA has.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the clear epoxies as I almost tried them but then found an old tin of floor varnish in the garage...

yep, see my little game board post, and the toxic waste dump.
$40 bucks a litre sounds good, I think it's normally that price for half as much. make sure you get enough catalyst with it though, I don't think you can buy it seperately.
Interestingly, although it's sold as an embedding resin, I was talking to someone recently who said it is no use for that.

... klear kast would be good for flat pools, maybe not for fountains. I've got an excellent article from 30 odd years ago about doing water features, paraphrase to follow if interested...

Well the makers of it list 250ml and 500ml on their website so I emailed them to ask if they have other stockists in the welly area. I'd rather only be spending $20, evenn if I only get 250ml because I just don't need that much

mitre 10 stock it? sweet. thats within walking distance and our home away from home (been building a sleepout and various other summer projects). I'm still trying to convince hubby that we need to go into the plaster warehouse to buy supplies for the upcoming regibbing project so I can try and sneak in a sack of hydrocal
