Well I may not have painted my figures for this months challenge but I have finally finished one of the cottages I got from Kreative Scenery. All in all its been a satisfying experience, Im quite pleased with the result but a couple of niggles came up... firstly the plaster of paris was a little weak and I managed to break off several of the tabs that connect the wall sections. But he now makes them out of Ultracal so no one will have this problem anymore (and should probably mention he was good enough to provide an ultracal replacement at cost!) Despite my usually impeccable attention to detail I have managed to get the walls out of square and as a result the roof doesn't fit right! But you cant really tell that on the table top just when taking close up pictures. Anyway here is 1 pic and you can check out more here if you are keen. I have another cottage, this time not ruined and made out of ultracal and Im hoping that will be finished fairly quickly now I know what Im doing.

Looks good Aaron! The blue looks like slate...makes me want to throw on my smock and go dig up some tatters for tea. What's up with the Sherman in the background though? I don't recall you having and blue tanks . Is that some kind of camera / coloured light splashing issue? Odd.

I think my camera has a tendancy to take accentuate blue hues which I should probably work out one of these days. Here is the second cottage finished and a little diorama set-up. www.album.co.nz/photoset/1745

Light balance maybe? Possibly set for sodium indoor lighting while you're taking photos under neon tubes? I believe neons are a pretty 'blue' light (like daylight) whereas normal lightbulbs are a nice warm yellow. But then I'm not a camera expert Like the cottages besides the church, they really work well together. Feels like there should a vicar in black riding his old bicycle down the lane, or possibly a thin frenchman in a blue striped shirt and beret? Non? Ahhhh...I've been throwing together North African terrain as well! Incredible that our whole gentleman's circle of gamers seems to have final got onto the same wavelength with a single game system . Sigh I doubt it will last though

Yep, light balance. I had a play with the settings but nothing changed light balance. I painted up a Kv-1e over the weekend and spent an hour or so taking photos in different conditions (light bulbs, direct sun, indirect sun) and the camera did some very strange things. I think Im going to have to work out a little studio somewhere and keep tinkering till I get it right... or possibly read the manual.
Anyway the Kv came out pretty well. Did a bit of weathering minor conversions (drilled out the machine gun mounts and add barrels and drilled out a hole for the aerial). Hopefully will get some pics of that up shortly.

Jerry tanks?! no! Soviet tanks! Bwaahaaa! The Kv-1e is the soviet version of a tiger tank (but with an average gun rather than the awesome 88). I just bought it cause it looks cool and would be fun to paint. But yes, perhaps a Soviet armoured company is on the way!
