Yep very nice, and very tricky to pick a winner. Do you have any suggestions for voting criteria? I might might take the easy moderator's perogative and use my vote as the casting vote in case of a tie

I wish Burbsee's photo was a bit clearer actually...I can see even more detail there now with abandoned shoulder pads and a skellie rib cage maybe? by the wrecked landspeeder... Voting criteria? I dunno. Pick the one you like best I guess

When all the entrants are of such a quality, I try to look for downsides to each piece. These aren't criticisms of the piece at all, just a way to try and justify a choice.
c0d33's piece is probably the best of the bunch construction-wise, and pretty far up the list in terms of colouring, aswell as being probably the best in terms of a useable terrain piece, as opposed to more of a display / objectivey type of thing that the others are. Then again, as we all know, stu is something of an afficianado of the terrain piece.
Aaron's is also very well painted, particularly the metal effect on the statue itself, and shows great use of found materials, something I'm all in favour of, so is probably one of the better examples of scratch building. Also, Aaron's never made a terrain piece before (which I was quite surprised to hear). With the possible exception of that cratery thing at the end, the circular aspect to the design suits the cd and therefore the point of the comp better than most. Alas, it has that unmistakeable GW stamp to it, and while that is not necessarily a bad thing in itself, it should come as no surprise to anyone that that factor causes it to drop a couple of marks in my book.
Burbsee had also never made a terrain piece, and while his is clearly also heavily gw-orientated, the finished piece is generic enough to suit a wide range of (admittedly sci-fi) games. A simple idea well executed, and a very nice paint job too. I could swear it had been airbrushed. I'm a big fan of dirty scrungy terrain, so that gets a point in my book. I'm struggling here, but maybe the speeder could have been a bit more bashed up, or look as if more bits had been removed by scavengers, or maybe set into the base at more of angle, not so straight.
As for mine, well, it was meant to be an experiment, and you don't learn nuffink less you experiment!

I think the ruined building is the best in terms of painting and construction like you said. Um.....what's wrong with the Games Workshop thingy??? ?I quite like it.......

Ta Slipher I voted for Burbsee's crashed speeder. I'd be very happy if any piece of terrain only took me 4 hours for such a nice looking and useful result! That ruined corner took me quite a bit longer...probably at least 8 hours if you include the time taken to cast the bits.

yay i got a vote! I was expecting to be the first competitor with zero votes two months running!
Not really sure how long I spent on mine, probably more than anyone else has mentioned since a lot of reworking and correcting was needed. If it had all worked out as planned this would have been a fairly quick project to complete, most of the techniques and methods were things I've perfected to get pieces up an out quick, it was just the hassles with the resin that took time. Also of course, I used a precast crater. If I had to make that from scratch it would have added a bit of time to the whole thing. the barbed wire was a scrap I had lying around, otherwise that takes an age to make too.

Aaron gets my vote, so spikey lol though it was definatly a tough decision, ive also made a crashed landspeeder and it definatly was not as good as yours burbsee, i was close to voting for C0d3monk33 as its quite a beautifull piece which can be used for most gaming systems, simple yet great. And Pityaks was just so slimey, as i play with some very drooly slimey beasties so i was also close to voting for the toxic waste...

Just Signed up and WOW some really cool build ups, really nice work on all of them. The level of deatils in such small kits are insane.
I voted for the Toxic Waste Dump, I like how the toxic waste looks and the poor guy who got stuck there.
