Simple question realy...
What would you expect to find at a xeno dig site... I am figuring the terrain would be like an archeological dig sit.
What do you guys/gals think ?

Interesting question Dustan ;P.
I'd expect at least one 'marker' of some kind...even just an oddly decorated stone obelisk or steele....hmmm...or maybe a tumble down stone statue. Thinking Easter Island or Egyptian style maybe....years ago I planned to make a Tau Ethereal sitting statue for a friend...never got around to it though...
Personally I imagine a 'Xeno Dig' site in 40k would be less like an archeological site and more like a strip mine myself.
At least the Imperium wouldn't give a tinker's cuss about preserving the surrounding environment or smaller trinkets...they'd be furiously excavating for the huge ancient buried Xeno machinery or statis tomb before the Inquisitors got a sniff of their little project...
Maybe some digging machinery then? Something with caterpillar tracks and a dirty great 'mole' blade...even just a repainted Tonka toy digger with a Tank Sprue 'Rough Terrain Modification' blade would look cool imho.
I look forward to seeing whatever your crazed twisted mind can spawn!

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Maybe a big pit with bits of skeletons or tech poking out the sides, or even better a gigeresque bio-techy type affair.

Yeah good point Phil. It's a XENO dig site after all...so something obviously not from the normal 40k armies? Heh. That could be hard to do...although Parasitic Studios have some nice evil sci fi terrain made from expanding spray insulation foam that might do with a metallic or green paint job?

That's pretty cool, I always fancied making one of those alien egg farms out of tennis balls on terragenesis

well I would interpret a Xeno's dig site as the Imperium as the ones doing the digging but doing a Tau dig on an ancient imperial thingamabob would be a good twist.
Tau would have cool floaty machines that moves the dirty with some force beam. Possibly a drone modified with x-ray equipment or something like that.
Doing it this way also means you can dig out any old imperial style stuff from the bits box but still make a unique (CD?!) size terrain piece.

Are we going to get to see some pics of this? This thread has tempted me to do something along similar lines.

I got to finish a couple more pieces... so far I got: Piramid with hydralisk statues/cliff face Piramid with sacrificial pit/rocky out crop temple entrance blocked with rocks
there finished what remains: Unblocked temple intrance 2x oppening (rectangular sky lights set into the ground
This all works in with the jungle trees that I have done a little more work on... just need 1 more colour then flocking
I have also flocked a couple of the hills that I have... they look great =]
If its a fine day tomorrow I will take some pics...
By the way, I have a web site in production =]
