I actually had a look at the Shore 65D 'Wacker' red/brown product last time I was in the TopMark warehouse (buying $90 worth of Ultrasil).
You're right Phil, 65D is FAR too hard for the kind of molding we're doing. Shore 65D rubber is as hard as skateboard wheels and just as flexible (ie. not at all). Be almost impossible to get the masters/casts out of a mold of that stuff I reckon.
TopMark did have a slightly harder Ultrasil product...a Shore 35D two part rubber kit. Problem is the bloody hardener is WHITE! Augh! So I'd actually have to measure stuff out to mix it. No thanks!
Hence I'm sticking with Ultrasil for now.

Ok, after trying to build one master I have gotten a little inspired. I am changing my base materials from cork tile to foam core, this will result in slightly thinner walls, I will be making a slightly larger variety of pieces, more glueing but better wall randomness. I have altered the way the floor and walls will join from this Key - '|' and '.' and '_' = Walls - '[' = floor ._. |..| |..| |...\ |....| |....| |..[[[[[[[[ To this ._. |..| |..| |...\ |....| |....|[[[[[[[[ |......| 3 reasons for this change. 1) more surface area at the bottom of the wall so I can use the same casts for external walls. 2)Floor tiles will be smaller allowing me to make a large sheet of flooring with various floor patterns Steel plates, Grill plates and anything else I can dream up or rip off. These larger sheets will have a slight perforation to make it easier to cut or break them into the desired shapes... How viable is this perforation theory? Another bonus is I can make larger rooms without having to glue many floor bits together. Larger corridors and rooms for kill team or winding confines for spacehulk. I can use them as roof tiles platforms and gantries. certainly a very versatile tile I would look at a master size of roughly 300mm 2 (6x6 grid) Is there any forseeable evils about this size, other than the cost? With this bigger mold might I be able to use a stiffer RTV compund maybe ? 3)It also leaves a small cavity underneath which will allow for deeper special floor tiles with things like alien entry holes, under floor pipes, lighting and the likes. (this is a consideration for both future implimentations and create your own floors.) The walls will be a multi part deal, Base part will be either a plain wall of steel plate with the floor lip at the bottom or a similar wall with a recess for detail plugs such as pipes wires or whatever else. I will make a set of mini butresses and protrusions to further customise, the walls, angled conduits, pipes and the sort. In the future I could see a meat floor tile and alien meat growing up the walls. Ahhh modular systems =] Corner pieces all round of course... Any comments on the ideas I have mentioned or possable pitfalls would be great. Production masters goes ahead tonight and for the next few days and i will hopefully mold and cast a few blank walls to detail before the weekend. everything going smoothly we should see real results in a fortnight (I will buy RTV this pay and decent casting materials on the next pay cycle)

Hey thats exactly what I was thinking of for my hulk project, I am now torn between buying them or building them. I guess its less hassel if I build my own... speaking of which, my workshop is waiting for me to go down and make it opperational. Sigh... I really got to get my S together. Least the net is back on.
