Ok, you know the stuff...the high density pink or blue insulation foam board you see all those professional gaming boards and terrain made with!
Anybody know where to get this stuff in Auckland, New Zealand? Everybody around here seems to use pink batts for wall and roof insulation...bit hard to make any decent terrain out of that.
The best I've found is medium density white polystyrene foam boards from Plastic Box. It's ok...but it doesn't quite take sanding and detail cutting as well as high density foam would.
Anybody?

Well I did a search on google for pages in NZ heres what I typed "high density" +insulation +Auckland Results seem positive though you might have to ring round and find out www.forman.co.nz/catalogs/1thermalcommercial.htmlThey call it 'Formathane® Polyurethane Sheet', here is the text and image from that link Formathane® Rigid Polyurethane sheet and pipe sections are available in standard, medium and high density grades. Polyurethane provides extremely efficient insulation, with very low thermal conductivity, low water permeability and moisture absorption. It is easily sculptured and resists most chemicals and solvents. Standard and Medium density are suitable for general industrial, construction and marine insulation. They are suitable for wall panels, underfloor insulating slabs, roofs and ceilings. Ideal for cold storage applications. The high density is suitable as a load bearing element for insulated tank tops and bottoms, traffic areas on pipe work and equipment operating below 110°C, pipe insulation and load bearing pipe hangers, supports and bearers, structural and insulating core between metal or FRP skins for refrigerated transport vehicles, caravans and general automotive use and high strength use in walls, doors, floors and roofs.

They have it as a 2 part liquid aswell... that means you could cast light weight castle walls or such... it seems to come in a whole range of mediums AND LOOK Styrofoam® Extruded Polystyrene Foam Data Sheet www.forman.co.nz/datasheets/ds_068_dow_styrofoam.pdf Styrofoam®, the blue extruded polystyrene CFC free rigid foam has particularly good thermal insulation, low water absorption, high compressive strength and is flame retardant. Styrofoam® is supplied in the form of boards, and is available in thicknesses from 20mm to 200mm depending upon the grade and edge design. The use of Styrofoam® saves heating and cooling energy, reduces the thermal stress to which constructions are subjected. Styrofoam® can be used for the insulation of walls, floors, ceilings and roofs, perimeter insulation, cold bridge insulation, and as frost protection in road and rail track construction.

Dagnabit, how the heck did I miss those guys? I've scoured the web for that Dow Chemicals blue board several times!
The next question is I guess if they sell individual sheets, or only by the house lot :/

Being a codemonkey means you probably know about the things that refine searches. for those that dont
putting things in "here" means find exact match
putting something after + means must also contain and - must not contain (put -buy and you get more information sites than places trying to sell thing)
and my favourite
site:pityak.com
followed by what you want to find means you will search ONLY pityak.com for results.
Funniest search, goto google and type in
french military victories
click i'm feeling luck and look at the alternative spelling offered =]
For those that dont know these search secret, enjoy. for those that do, hope you injoyed the google search =]

Fantasychild, how did I miss your post as well ...might have been before I arrived on Pityak. At any rate $50 from 1m x 2m x 60cm seems like a reasonable price...I wonder what they do with damaged sheets...might have to do a drive by and see if they've got a dumpster out on the street...

Heh...now you point it out my brain actually read that as '60mm' (6cm) despite the fact I typed 'cm' as well.
60cm would be a rather thick block of insulation to try and stuff into a wall cavity...

well thats embarrasing... Ive looked at the name c0d3monk33 and never figured out it means codemonkey... Infact never been able to figure out what the heck it meant at all! if you cant locate a dumpster and anyone was looking at a block of dense poly I'd be quite keen to put in for a share. I really couldn't use 1*2m of the stuff but possibly a half/third/quarter would be good.
