I just picked up some 'Daylight Bulbs' for figure photography that fit a normal household lamp. 'Lighting Plus' in Auckland stock them for $8 each. They make macro photography much easier - no more messing about with white balance. Lighting Plus sell 'black light' bulbs as well and I was briefly tempted to turn my living room into a bad disco dance floor Just in case anybody wanted to know!

I can beat that; I got energy saver daylights from Pak n Save. Think they were about four bucks. They're D64s rather than D65s for the technically minded, but that's good enough for me.

Curses there's a Pak and Save down the road from my house ... I didn't have to travel to Newmarket! I'll definitely check out the lighting shelves next time I'm down there.

I got the impression it was a one off; there was just a few types and not many of them.
