Foam core

Hiya,

So im wanting to make some small buildings and am thinking foam core walls may be the way to go. (as opposed to buying premade GW/forgeworld plastic cast.

I tried using polystyrene, but its so awkward to make detailed stuff with it.

Anyone know the best places to scope out foam core...or any good alternatives?

warehouse stationery sells it, or any art supply store that keeps a decent stock. Another thing I have heard people using is real estate signs. but those would have a linera texture. Which would be ok if you want texture or were covering it with something

Just went to stationary warehouse kilbilnie

I walked in and asked a shlef packer

"Do you have any foam core". He had no clue what I was talking about. Luckily an eldery woman working there said "We have foam board"....

So..if you go there they sell "Xacto Foam Board"
Its $9.00 for about 400x600mm I think (I forget the meaurements but it not that large) and $13 for the black version.

I then quickly made for the door!!

The stuff I got I bought from Whitcoulls, which was sold as foamboard. Not sure exactly but I think about $13 for something slightly bigger than A3.

I can check if you like (its just downstairs) altho not many whitcouls seem to stock it.

Personally I found the stuff a bugger to work with, but I'd never really tried it before and didn't have the best equp/location to work with. I was only using it as a basing material for Mordheim buildings.

Gordon Harris art supplies in WGTN has ALOT of different sizes at reasonable price compared to stationary warehouse.

ah i was meaning to get in there sometime and buy some paint. They have teh lgolden paints fluid acrylics. I was hoping to pick up some of the interferance colurs for teh scales on my mermaids tail
