here is the link for the lava base tutorial. I was thinking that could look amazing if you used it across a whole field.. Try tearing a cork tile into sections, make some bits larger and some areas more broken up, keep it in some kind of order as you tear like lay the bits down in a square shape as you break it up. Rough up the egese a little more and in some places take out chunks, then glue this down onto a backing board.. cork tile is around 30cm/12" square i think? so one tile broken up like this might cover 35/cm/14" square or slightly larger. add rocks and other elements around it or whatever then use the tutorial painting guide. This would give you an amazing looking gaming base but still retain a fairly flat level top so all your guys don't keep falling over cos they're stuck at odd angles www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/302damn I'm going to have to dig out a cork tile now!!, I think the thicker the better for this.. anyone want to go shares in a pack of them? Mitre 10 sell them by the sq metre which is 9 of them

oh yeah, you'd want to put some sand and stuff in the gaps just to keep that surface rough for the dry brushing too

it's cork tile, you get it from hardware shops like mitre 10 in packs of 9. I'll tell you guys what, I can find out how much a pack costs, split the price by 9 and sell you how ever many you wanted for cost price plus $1 post and package. Interested? I could do it throughtrademe if you want to be sure I'm all legit and stuff. it makes great bases too, here's another tutorial showing how to make one with cork tile www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/239
