My latest commission, a Grenadier Miniatures crusader. I was given pretty much free reign with this, the only stipulation being that it had to be done in realistic colours. I was planning on a greenish / brownish colour scheme, but once primed I spotted the sculpted Maltese cross (it was invisible until primed) so decided to try something I rarely attempt, a white outfit (or surcoat anyway). In my book that's about the hardest thing to paint, I don't think it came out too bad. Couple more views; The figure was basically stock, although I did engrave wood grain in the back of the shield. This is a quick easy way to add realism to these old figs, which always seem to have smooth shield backs for some reason. This grain is just visible in the pic above. Rear view - the cloak is not that shiny in real life, honest. Front, showing the shield detail. And for good measure another shot, with my Flames of War commandos in the background. The crusader also came with these two horde piles, but they didn't photograph too well. (They're about the size of a 10c piece (a New Zealand 10c piece))

might be a while yet I'm planning on these and two rifle platoons, maybe three. Can't decide wether to get stuck in and finish all these first or buy some vehicles or weapons teams for a bit of a change. I'm impressed with how quick they are to paint, so if I can myself into gear I should be able to knock a few out.
