Hehe, yeh thats quite true. Ive been shot at by him but I've never knew what he looked like! ;D
Fair enough then. I thought he might have had sword or something interesting round that side.

Sword's actually on his back. You can just see the hilt under his quiver.
That photo is making me want to play Mordheim too...

I started some of those militia figures a while back, they haven't got as far as priming yet although all the modelling work is finished. Might have to get back onto them too!

OK well here is the photoset for my Iron Warriors Warsmith (Chaos Space Marine Lord). He started life as one of these and has suffered a head swap and has his back pack butchered and added a servo arm from an old tech marine. The painting is ok, Im reasonably happy with it but got a bit stuck on the 2 weapons. As always it looks better in real life (particularly the distinction between silver and gold on the weapon isn't really visible) & will look good on the table. The only downside from a table top point of view is that his head is angled staight ahead so you cant see his face. Ah well, there ya go.

Yeah he looks pretty damned good and that's a fine photo too! What kind of digital camera do you own? The metals look fine to me...nicely done. I like the way you've distinguished the joints in his servo arm from the arm itself and the brass detailing on his armor looks nicely weathered. Did you hit the armor with a chestnut ink wash after painting? Nice combination of scary Fantasy Knight (horned helmet and a dirty great axe) and 40k badass (servo arm and plasma pistol) too. My only criticism is that he should really be standing on a Tau head

As an aside...do you ever notice that you yourself are much more critical of any artistic endeavour than most observers are?
I bet the Heavy Metal studio painters finish a job and think 'well, that looks ok I guess - although I really wish I'd gone with 30 separate thinned blended layers instead of just the 20 though'.

Thanks for the positive feedback.
This guy was converted about 2 months ago and was undercoated at the same time. I started painting him couple days after we came up with this idea.
To be honest the bone was the first time Ive painted it in that way (different shades of brown/bone/white) normally I paint it white slap on some flesh ink and dry brush it back up, this has definately worked well and it was much easier to do on a finished figure (horns got painted at the end)
Camera wise its pretty basic Kodak, a CX7330. I endeavoured to get better lighting this time and snapped off about 20+ pics to get the best ones. I must say my photo editing has improved since I got a demo copy of Adobe Photoshop CS2, its pretty awesome & not to difficult to use. alas the trial runs out in a couple more weeks.
It is an interesting point about being more critcal of your own work. In my head I knew how I wanted him to look so I can see the faults. When you are just looking at a figure you dont have any opinion of how it "should" look so you just enjoy it (or not).
Stu you'll be pleased to know I have added an impaled Tau head to the back of the Basilisk!

Only because they've had more a more recent Codex update than anybody else ... And I detest them on principle because they've got better guns than the Imperial Guard...who *used* to be 40k's shooty army but with 4th Ed seem to be more like a treadhead's choice.

i dont have a problem with tau just a "few" people i know think that they are the "gays "of the universe. to me they do seem a bit "for the better good" which is unusual for the universe of 40 k but somebody has to be?

www.album.co.nz/photoset/1537there is some of mine.no particular chapter as i am still coming up with details on it but maybe as this progreses i will have something to say about it.i cant complain about my paintjob though i would have a done a better job(in my mind)if i had stuck to ultramarines.i just drybrushed his armor cos iam lazy and did not know how the camera would preform i am still learning with taking photos so they could have been better a bit more light would have definitly helped.hes on some of my friends terrain that he uses for something else(not wargaming).but is new camera is a big improvement on last times!!
