Nice... I can hear his deep voice saying:
'Give the Arc to me Indiana'
But seriously - flash photography does that to every miniature...I don't believe there's any way you can get a decent figure shot with a flash on.

I've just been looking back over those pics of the scud. Man, I wish I'd kept it myself! It's not often I do something I'm happy with, but I did like that one.

Ho ho! Latest job is finished.
My first 12" conversion. I won't post any pics for a few days, as there's a chance the recipient might see this, and it's a surprise for him.
Basically it's a customised Vader (as you may have guessed from my request for a vader head a while back). My first 12", and hopefully my last! Man they are difficult! Such a large scale is pretty unforgiving, plus they are expected to have real fabric clothing and what have you rather than sculpted ones. While i don't claim to be the best sculptor in the world, my sculpting is certainly better than my needlework!
Packaging is a bit of a pain on these big ones too; my usual techniques don't work, so I have to scratch my head abit over the next few days to see what I can come up with. (He's too big to fit in the box I had planned on using!)

Darth Geek; The guy here is a collector of 12" figures, with over 200, and a vader fan (he even has a full size suit of his own). He has a big beergut, and shouts and points a lot, hence the pointy hand and beer belly. He's also a bit of a geek, hence the name, cellphone, lap top and pocket protector. Finally he's a soccer coach, hence the whistle and boots. and packaged; Packaging was a bit of a pain, he was too big to fit in the box I had planned, so had to make the fist and face bursti8ng out the front, but i think this ended up working out well, considering the subjects's penchant for shouting and poiting.

Hah hah! Superb! Don't you wish you could be around to see the recipient's faces though?
That's some really nice work...and particularly in the details...the Darth chest panel/pocket protector is great and laptop/mini Darth figure/tie fighter toys too!
Man, how much do you get for these pieces? They seem to involve a lot of work on your part...personally I hope you see at least $50 a conversion...
I think the packaging really works as well, actually adds to the whole figure rather than just, well, packaging it.

Obviously you didn't sculpt the tie fighter/laptop but the choice of toys in inspired for the figure You must do some serious toy store raids...

You must do some serious toy store raids... Of course! Why else would I do this Whenever I see a figure with accesories that might be useful one day I buy it. Especially from the $2 shop, I've got a pile of things like the laptop, computers, stereos and what have you. You're right about the laptop being a bought one, but did you notice the keyboard is upside down? I didn't until i got it home, but didn't reckon it was worth worrying about. The scale 12" vader figure was the customer's idea and I scratched that (The box is from a pack of cards, with the black sprayed on) but the vader's TIE micro machine I just happened to have lying around, so that went in as a bonus. These 12" figures are interesting to do, more of a scavenging project than full-on modelling or sculpting. And i do see a little more than $50

I was in the model shop the other day, and while I forget most of the details, this might of interest;
One of the 20mm plastic mfrs (I think it may have been zvesda) have started doing a line of 28mm plastic figures. If I rememebr rightly there was a box of sort of human knight type characters, and a box of orcs. There was also an ogre / giant figure. Well worth checking out.

I really hate doing horses as I've said before, but i've got a reasonably good formula for knocking out these little 'uns

and are you going to reval these secrets?i find a resonably effective way-which was drybrush you black horse with white and then apply watered down brown ink.its good enough for meyou can very the darkness by the thickness of the ink and the amount of drybrushing you apply.
