Having read and enjoyed the background of several armies I figured it was time to give something back with the background to my marine chapter.

Thought for the day: The Reward for Heresy is Death
Storm Crows space marines.
Homeworld: Albion (Theta Ursae Majoris 5)
Gravitation: 0.95 Terra
Radiative Flux: 1.8 Terra
Classification: Marginal
Theta Ursae Majoris is a binary system with the primary star being an F5 classification.
Albion is a class 6 deathworld due to the high radiative flux and hostile native lifeforms. Human habitation on the planet is limited to the north polar continent.
During the Age of Apostasy the inhabitants of Albion fell back on the barbaric ways of their ancient ancestors. When the colony was rediscovered the Emperor's survey team was martyred by the inhabitants. Raven Guard marines were dispensed to reclaim the colony in the Emperor's name.
The Raven Guard marines were drawn into a guerrilla war with the natives but inevitably were victorious. Brother Chaplain Dimitri of the Raven Guard was sufficiently impressed by the tenacity and combat skill of the natives that he dispatched a message to the chapter master suggesting that a mission be established to bring the people back into the Emperor's light.
A stubborn and proud people, the colonists did not easily abandon their old beliefs but eventually the wisdom of the Emperor prevailed and the colony was brought into the fold.
Candidates suitable for marine training were selected from Albion and entered the Raven Guard where they performed with skill and ferocity. After several generations of Imperial rule a permanent chapter was established and designated Storm Crows.

Magos Biologis Report: Storm Crows Genome
The people of Albion posses a mutation on chromosomes A34 and F19 attributable to the high levels of radiative flux found in the Theta Ursae Majoris system. This mutation has led to increased levels of aggression akin to those observed in those suffering psychosis. This is kept in check through strict societal rules and a complex system of laws.
It is my belief that this system should be classified Nonviable and Exterminatus carried out on the population of Theta Ursae 5.
-------------------------- End Transmission -----------------------
Game Rules:
The Storm Crows have significant diversion from standard codex marine armies. They posses the Traits: Take the Fight to Them and Cleanse and Purify and the Disadvantages: Eye to Eye and Take Pride in your Colours.
Most tactical squads choose to fight with bolt pistols and close combat weapons and sacrifice heavy weaponry for assault weapons. Devastator squads are relatively rare as are Librarians due to the mutation that all Storm Crows posses.
Storm Crows tactics revolve around rapid strikes in hand to hand combat and many of their best warriors utilise jump packs to close rapidly with the enemy. Strategically Storm Crows fight guerrilla actions, striking from rapidly established strongholds and retreating once strategically important targets have been destroyed.
The Strom Crow colours are white and blue with red highlights.
