the new battle for macragge set comes with a cutdown version of the rulebook. What have they left out to make it so much smaller?

I dont know for a fact but from looking through the previous rulebook if you left out the stories, the colour sections, the armylists and the unneccessary crap it would only be 50 pages (instead of 200+) so probably they've left out all the extras but kept all the rules.

Back to my "History of Warhammer" story;
When I was a nipper, most rules came on a side of A4, then out came the doorstop edition of 40k. nice pics, nice terrain tips, nice backstory, maybe four pages of rules?

I read the most fascinating story about the history of GW, but for the life of me I cant remember where it came from, all about Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson... and the other guy that pulled out because he didn't think it would succeed(can you say 5th Beatle). and how whitedwarf finally made it to a real magazine.

it was a great story, and a great company. One of them "couple of likely lads make a go of a hobby" tales. i'd like to read more on it. like i said before, part of the formative years of my life!

I read a history of GW in the 300th issue of White Dwarf it was pretty interesting: it used to be a 3 page pamphlet kind of thing in black and white and now its a 140+ magazine in full colour
