Maybe they finally let something slip through thats completely absurd but fun to play? (well apart form Gorkamorka that is)
plus how many tactical marine units do you think they'll sell when people think "looks like fun and its only 1 squad to buy..."

true that! But seriously, is it really all that good? I like the whole idea of small armies, but not that small! It just sounds rediculous, and I'm wondering how many veteran GW players will leave if it catches on...

Oh hey dont panic.
I probably should have mentioned this is just a one off for fun, totally un-official list. Its not gonna be released or anything and you couldn't use it in a tournament or anything like that.
Besides as everyone knows if you want to play squad size combat its gotta be Necromunda!

Phew! That makes sense then.. I was just wondering why GW would do such a thing... And everyone but me, probably, knows about Necromunda, I've heard of it but no idea what it is...

Necromunda is the best game GW has made. Its basically the 2nd Edition 40k rules with some minor tweaks for squad size battles. The real genius of the whole system is that its a campaign. You start with some territory and experience and as you fight you characters get new skills (like stat increases or special skills). the old 40k rules didn't work for big games but are just perfect for 10-15 models a side (15 would be a big Necro gang). It was also more 3D with the terrain having several levels and ladders and bridges.
This is the game Ive played the most... but then that probably makes me a bit biased. ;D

So I'm guessing it's something like "LotR battle companies"? You start with a basic force of say, 7 guys, and fight battles, gain experience and upgrade guys? It doesn't actually sound too bad, and it'd be interesting to get into

Yep pretty much, the same theory behind it. Im pretty sure you can do the same thing for 40k but its more general. In necromunda each model has his own stats, you also earn money so you can buy special items or recuit more troops etc. The main reason I like it is that its got a lot of variety and because the advancement is random (which is incredibly frustrating sometimes) no two gangs ever come out quite the same. If you ever get a chance give it a go. The rules are actually free for download from Gamesworkshop (Well they should be soon)

Necromunda sounds like my kind of game.
Wargames Foundry do a set of rules for something that sounds like that. They need a bit of work, but they're free.

www.wargamesfoundry.com/library/index.aspA page of rules and resources for all genres. The one i was talking about is "Streetfight". It looks like good concept for a fun game, but the rulles need a bit of reworking I think. I started to rewrite them myself a while, I'll see if I can find them. Also have a look around the rest of Foundry's site for some of the best miniatures in the world. And sooo many types.

Streetfight rules definitely look like they deserve to be tried. The characters are really flexible so i'm gonna play with army men to be cheap . If you do manage to work out some new rules PitYak post the changes.

I like the randomness of the cards, younever know quite whne your figure will be able to move next. makes it a bit more like a "game" than a "wargame"
I'll dig out those rules and post them somewhere.
