Just a little forum to discuss a little game I like to call 40k. Anything goes in here, rules, comments, faqs, and about any army from the 40k universe. Personally I collect space marines, loyalish to the Emperor. Anyways, feel free to post stuff here about 40k and see what response you get.

So is anyone using the new 40k rules? Ive played a few games under the last edition (Chaos Marines) but I cant bring myself to buy yet another rule book? what are the changes? better or not really? Im not asking for a rules listing or anything cause we dont really want to get shut down by GW already but is it worth buying?
Im thinking 40k in 40mins would be a good way to get to paint/collect different armies without spending too much money.

It was a real beauty that first one. Before that most rules sets were fairly cheap affairs, often just photocopied sheets stapled together, then out came this huge hard back book, full of pictures, back story, terrain tips, the lot. I read that cover to cover all Christmas the year I got it!
Dunno what happened to it, I haven't got it now.

With regards to the new 4th edition rules, my friends and I play with a mixture of 3rd/4th edition rules, mainly 3rd edition but we add in the 4th edition rules that we know. A few new rules can be found in recent White Dwarfs, and to me they seem to even armies out, so that although armies all have their strong points there's no one army overpowered, save Necrons... supid metal necrons with their stupid we'll be back roll...
40k in 40 mins sounds ok, its a fun game, and theres not many miniatures, and therefore money, needed to play as opposed to larger 1500+ point battles. Kill Team's another similar game by the sounds of it, although I've not yet had a chance to play.

When i have played , i always prefer small skirmish games, so that sounds like it would suit me.

40k in 40 mins is a small game, desgined to played in under an hour (hance the name 40k in 40 mins). Generally involves 10-20 models, maybe a tank or dreadnought, and (ideally) a 4'x4' table.
The rules dont differ from those of 40k except for the following: The maximum wounds a model can have is 2 The maximum armour value on a vehicle cannot exceed 32, eg front + side + rear = 32 Force organisation need not be followed
I'm pretty sure thats all the rule changes, and its an ideal game for those new to the hobby

Did you see the rules in the last White Dwarf for Movie Space Marines?
I would love to give them a go! a 1500pt army consisting of about 10 marines and possibly a transport! it just looked like the biggest laugh

They introduced Space marines with normal stats like WS/BS 6 S/T 5 W/A 3. The the Sargent about WS 9 A 5. All of them have a 3+ save then a 3+ reroll or if no save (cause of hi AP) then they get a 3+ invunerable save. Their equipment was changed too. Bolters where something like range 36 Assault 3. The idea was that they should be able to take on a normal 1500pt army. (the details may be a little off but you get the idea)
