This board is currently free, hence the ads.
If enough folk sign up, and this becomes the community I am hoping for, I will have the ads removed.

To be honest I find the ads here unobtrusive. They're just a small blurb of text, and most seem to be relevant to the kinds of things someone reading these boards could be interested in. Actually I didn't even notice them until I saw this thread and thought 'what? there's ads here???' At least they're not blinking red white yellow and shouting at you that you may have just won a green card!. or 'congratulations you have been pre approved for ***insert phone, mortgage, credit or any other deal open only to US residents here***
If they're covering the cost of your running these boards then by all means keep em.

these ads are definitely fine and any money people think of spending should be on a more modelling stuff (PitYak feel free to jump on in and self promote)

Funnily enough I was just thinking the same thing; I picked this host almost at random. I did a google, opened half a dozen sites at once and picked the first one that opened. Now that I look at it I reckon it was a good choice, the ads are fairly unobtrusive. Self promote? You make it sound like I've got an ulterior motive!  ;D |

I had no idea when I started the ads were going to be so appropriate; i've seen some great stuff through them myself now. The wonders of technology!

wow, I just discovered tha the ads actually reflect the thread topic. Google must place them depending n keywords. for instance go to the rackham thread and it pulls up ads for confrontation and hybrid. Click on the thread titled paintbrushes and it pulls up places that sell brushes. I saw some funny ones for the stirring your paint thread, mainly lab equipment and centrifuges .. annyway yeah. the ads are relevant to the thread, not just the site
