Rule no 1 - There are no rules. Seriously, I don't intend to take a heavy hand on these boards, just keep your posts relevant (or irrelevant in PitYakety Yak) And try not to deliberately offend anyone. Definitely don't offend me (and I warn you, I'm pretty touchy)! By the same token, I can offend anyone I want. Have fun, and let's see if we can make this a lively interesting place. Also, despite my outwardly philanthropic appearance, believe it or not this is a blatant publicity vehicle for PitYak Studios, so no other commercial interests are to be promoted without my sayso. I am the law.

Just a question: can I use swearing in these forums, especially to display my hatred of Tau and Necrons (40k) or will I be booted for it?

Right. Hmm. Something I hadn't considered.
I realise Warhammer and it's attendant hosts are perhaps the most commonly played games, and that they appeal to all ages. That's a great thing I reckon.
No matter what you're into, games, models, sports, heck even train sets, if no one follows after you, your hobby dies out. Now maybe you don't care, and frankly, why should you? But think about why you're doing this. I bet all of you would say because you love it. Things that we enjoy are precious, and without wanting to sound like some kind of f*cked up hippy, generations to come should be able to enjoy what we do. Admittedly their miniatures will probably be entirely generated by a neural implant and won't exist outside of some consensual hallucination we all participate in, but that's beside the point.
That said, we're all adults. I don't believe the internet is or could ever possibly in a million years by even half a dimwit be considered some kind of e-babysitter, so if your on participating on this board you're either of legal adult age, someone who is is watching you, or someone who is thinks you're old enough to look after yourself.
So I guess there's a point somewhere, let's talk to each other as adults with a bit of common sense. Despite what I said earlier, I don't get offended easily, at least not by swearing. I may take offence to you talking about certain subjects, but I certainly won't get offended by how you talk about those subjects.
When I'm emotional I let fly, and I'm sure you do too. Let's not go out of our way to be offensive to anyone, but neither try and by like an Enid Blyton book (and I bet at least half of you have never heard of Enid Blyton!) ;D
And if you have a problem with another member, how about you IM me rather than start a flame war, and we'll see if we can keep things happy?

Over the years I have found that many people using the internet feel that the anonymity which a text based forum provides allows them to behave like absolute asses and write things that they would never in a million years dream of walking up to a person they just met and saying. I understand the desire to be free of rules. But I think we need to adhere to certain standards and as much as I would like to believe that we're all adults and cann do that, my experiences over the years have sadly shown me otherwise. I would like to see the following guidelines. 1. Don't call others names or write things deliberately intended to hurt another - Try to remember that behind that funky screen name is another human being who has feelings 2. Be constructive in your comments - If you have something to say about anything at all try to say it in a constructive way, or at least back your statements up with reasoning. (I hate those fu*king ------- because ----) who knows, that way we might all learn something 3. Ok yeah and swearing, if this becomes a board where kiddies who got bored of MSN come to regurgitate the latest chain of clever swear words that they learnt today.. *shudder* There mere fact that some of you have already can you swear worries me. Use it as an accent to express just how strongly you feel about something but please keep it to just that, an accent not the main body of your writing Just be cool, and yeah you guys can just call me mum for short, I know I behave like one

Good Points from Pirate Wench - I want this board to be open to all ages, but not to degenerate into a teeny slang fest like the trademe boards amongst others. I know young folk can be as mature as anyone else (I used to be a teacher! aaaaaahaha! ;D) so let's try and keep things pleasant. (and us old farts don't understand you when you go on like that anyways - eeeh, when I was a lad...)
