How coincidental that so many unrelated women can accuse the same group of men of the same crime, a crime that some of said group are bizzarrely already serving time for.
Taught me (or rather reminded me of) a valuable lesson today: Don't f*ck with the pigs.

Yeah, I'm rather gobsmacked about the whole thing, I don't normally get all wound up over trials, but this one.. dang join the pigs and cover your ass for life? The jury of course couldn't be told of the current convictions because it was supressed. What is up with that?
It does make me curious about whetehr anny more past victims of the gang of bullies will step forawrds after seeing all this, sounds like the group of them made a bit of a habit of it all so I wouldn't be suprised if someone else did step up for another attempt

That's like me, don't normally get involved with stuff like that at all, but I've been dying to hear the outcome of this one. I was walking through the hutt this morning when i got a message from someone to say they had heard about the previous convictions of the two, and I thought "yep, going down", it actually got me buzzing in such a good mood I went and bought a new pair of boots!
When I got home and heard the result on the radio, gobsmacked was about the best way I can describe my reaction too. I can't begin to imagine how the complainant must feel, because i've been completely spun out about it. And did you see the arrogant arsehole after he came out of court? It's been interesting watching telly night, it seems like apart from willie jackson, who supports him, he is universally detested.
I had a rare look at the trademe message board, and it seems to be fairly evenly split between those who have a similar view to me, and those who can't seem to tell the difference between "not guilty" and "didn't do anything wrong"
Best post I read:
Get some better work stories: "Yeah, today we kidnapped a young girl and sexually abused her, it was great fun, and there's no way we'll get caught."

There is one good thing to come out of this; finding out two of the filth a bar behind bars. i cannot think of a less enviable position than that of a pig rapist in jail!
there's always someone worse off than yourself! ;D

It was tried by a jury tho right? Nothing much the cops can do to influance that bar through the lawyers... For the wife lying thing to be a part there must have been a large amount of counter evidence to sway the jury.
I agree, interesting coincidence for sure, but 2 trials and he goes free, there must be more to it, suppressed evidance about the girl etc.
Now dont get me wrong, I used to work for womens refuge and have seen a few broken souls in my day, and think rapists deserve to suffer, but i have also met a miniority that blatantly lie about such things to gain attention. Thats why im sitting on the fence about this as i have not heard all the evidence, and realisticly never will, seeing as the media warps things to sell.
Not trying to offend anyone but thats how i see it.

It's a very complex issue for sure, and I might just be cynical but I reckon thinking the cops can't influence a trial is a little naive. And don't forget a not guilty verdict means nothing more than the fact that the jury were not able satisfy themselves of the parties' guilt "beyond all reasonable doubt", not at all the same as saying "entirely innocent of all wrongdoing". To drag up the old OJ chestnut, although obvioulsy a very different set of circumstances, there you have a case where a defendant is found not guilty, then goes on to write a book detailing how he would have committed the crime if he had, which of course he hadn't. I would agree too that there are bound to be some cases were it is the complainant who is at fault, but there are just too many coincidences about this pack for it all to be misunderstandings, wrongful allegations or whatever. Things like the original case notes for the Lousie Nicholas case going missing. It happens, but then the personal diary of the chief investigating officer has also gone missing? There's a safe locked up somewhere with some facsinating goodies inside I'm sure. And then there's the deathbed confession of one the officers involved (who is now dead obviously) There is some interesting information out there now, including articles that were written a while back and had to be supressed. Some light reading; www.publicaddress.net/default,3985.sm#post3985 briefingroom.typepad.com/the_briefing_room/2007/03/not_guilty_verd.htmlbriefingroom.typepad.com/the_briefing_room/2007/03/why_clint_ricka.html--which includes this tidbit; briefingroom.typepad.com/the_briefing_room/files/louise.pdfThe pdf in the last link in particular highlights some astounding points I had not considered or known about, and others I had heard years ago but forgotten about. ...and I doubt you'll offend anyone, you certainly haven't offended me. Anyone posting on this board would have to have exceptionally severe views before i would consider censoring. (I might laught at them if I disagreed, but that's about it)
