Does anyone play either of those games from Rackham? I often take a surf past their website and drool over the must have figures. They are very very lovely. Of particular -must have- interest to me is the little pirate goblins boxed set. I just can't resist pirates. I'm quite likely just to get them and paint them as display pieces but I was wondering if anyone actually plays it here in NZ

The first time I'd heard of it was when it came up on TM about a week ago. I searched the web for it but all I found was a french site... but then I didn't look that hard. Ive never seen anyone playing it but Im a bit GW focused.

right, on the french site there is an english flag icon which gets you the english version, Rackham is a french companyand you know what the french are like when it comes to english www.rackham-store.com/index_us.htmthe site is just awesome to look over for painting inspiration. I love their style and might even have to buy a catalogue just for reference

COoooOoool I just found a NZ store that sells rackham stuff, actually thanks to the advertising at the top of this page wargames.co.nzit is a little pricey, but some of the models are not too bad, best thing is that postage is free, so you can buy just one and not have to worry about forking over $5 in p&p. And they give a discount if you use internet banking to transfer the cash I'm buying this guy when I have the cash wargames.co.nz/product_info.php/cPath/25_37/products_id/197who knows, maybe in another three years i might have enough of them to play the game? that is if I could find anyone else that plays

Well Ive been browsing the online store, I still couldn't find an English button for the main page. I really like the style of the miniatures something about the models just made me want to pick them up and start painting! unfortunately I found the faces where a rather plain and square which detracted from the model. Altho Im a bit confused these are 25-28mm models? Cause they are so damn big in the pictures I wasn't sure. If they are then I dont think those fine details would be that noticable. Also thats some pretty damn good camera work!

check out the wargames.co.nz link I posted before. From what I have heard the details in rackham minis are pretty good and they're a joy to paint. I think the bigger races like wolfen and devourers in the range are more like 32mm but then there are the small races like dwarves and goblins. From what I have found in online forums the game is fairly fun. Also apparantly you don't have to buy seperate rules, they're included with the minis, so I gues the slightly higher cost of the minis is evened out by not having to buy rules books. One thing I would like to find out is just how many minis you need to play a reasonable round of confrontation as I think that is a big factor in the overall cost of the game I can't decide tween griffens and goblins.. those goblins are just so damned cute!

Those Goblins are brilliant... they just look so troublesome, like they would tie your shoe laces together and wait for you to fall over before jumping up and down on your face But for me its got to be the The Red Lionness and the Lions of Alahan. The Red Lionness model on foot is very cool, altho I dont understand the significance of the cloth?!

No loyalty programme from PitYak Studios unfortunately, all you get here is free gifts, competitions, access to the owner / sculptor / painter / teaboy 24 hours a day, the chance to say exactly what products you want, the world's greatest message board...

OH WOW WOW WOW
Ok, I just got my copy of Cry Havoc, it's a quarterly bought out by Rackham to compliment their games ranges and OH WOW
this is no magazine as I expected it to be, it is a high quality softcover book. The paper stock used for pages just screams quality. The pictures are drop dead gorgeous, and the how tos are incredible and inspiring. They have a painting workshop, scenery workshop which is just so damed inspiring I'm about to go out and buy some plaster. Strategy game scenarios and wow, drop dead gorgeous pictures!. really really amzing. Ok so it wasn't magazine price... a rather hefty $46.50 from the wargames website or try trademe.
but wow, I'm not regretting buying this at all
