Hey man thats a really good idea, and I think we should expand it even further than WD. I think if anyone had codexes or other army books they're willing to send around NZ then perhaps we can include them in this swap shop too? As Burbsee said, as long as they come back the way they were sent, it could work quite nicely.. It would have to be trusted members of course, but I'm sure we could work something out..
If anyone has a Tau codex they're willing to send me for a few weeks that'd be great, you can trust me to send it back, I'm looking at collecting Tau and wanna have a look through the codex first..

PDF is Portable Document File, it is the type of file used by adobe Acrobat reader. Also what is being talked about is in breach of copyright. If you want to talk about that please keep it off the public board, use private messages or emails. Also on that note we dont need to discuss the virtues of copyrights and if it is right or wrong. I personally consider it illegal and while it is a good way to find out about the newest armies or rule changes, I make it a point to buy the book. Hmmm the PDFs are all available for free from the GW site, but they're too massive for my PC to handle, but I see where your coming from and I'm sorry for bringing the issue up. Is it still cool if we post WD and codexes to people?

PDF files arent illegal, its the content that can be questioned. the reason that PDF's get used is the 'portable' part. Acrobat reader is available on all operating systems, so it can move easily between one platform and another...
You can do as you want, I think white dwarf trading is a great idea, I would love to see issues with lots of Ork stuff in it =] I only got one white dwarf now... issue 271

if the pdfs you're talking about are freely available from the official site, that's no problem. What is a bit dodgy is pdfs made by scanning your books or mags and available for download from less official sites. Perish the thought that anyone would be doing that!
So as I say, if you want to swap legitimate pdfs (I have hundreds form all over the place) that's ok, but not anything piratica. You all know what a good law abider I am!

Wouldnt it be fine if it is for private use??? im not making a profit from it so it souldnt really be a problem, and there not the pdf's from the site they are the full codexes

Dont turn up to tournaments with printouts and dont advertise you got them and the likelyhood of getting caught is very very slim.

It's a very delicate subject, true you're not likely to get caught, but copyright holders are still pretty touchy about their property.
Even if it's not for profit, it still theoretically hurts the copyright holder, as anyone who reads the copy is less likely to pay for their own original.

One thing I would probably add is that if it is found that a particular web site is involved in trading of illegal PDF files it would most probably get shut down.
I think that is reason enough not to talk to much more about it.
Its not like the GW Police are going to come and knock on your door but they might knock on Proboards door.
